The Community Foundation is proud to be partnering with the Institute of Nonprofit Leadership and Community Development to coordinate the Emerging Nonprofit Leadership Accelerator again this year. Today, fifteen emerging nonprofit leaders from throughout the region begin the six month program focused on building their management skills, connecting them to resources, expanding their networks, and advancing their ability to advance equity issues in our community.
Beginning this week, New York State has opened the vaccine to Group 1B this includes first responders, teachers, police, public transit workers, and individuals age 65 and over. Check your eligibility to receive the vaccine and stay informed on important updates at www.CapitalRegionVAX.org. The Community Foundation is proud to support a three-part series on urban resilience produced by the The Future of Small Cities Institute. As small cities across the country struggle with the immediate effects of the Covid pandemic, they are also beginning to look for long-term recovery strategies. The second session of the series is titled Pathways to Equity and will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Additional partners include Capital Region Business Improvement Districts, the NY Upstate American Planning Association, the Troy Innovation Garage, and the Capital District Regional Planning Commission. Albany County has announced a Small Business Grant Program to support small businesses that have lost revenue due to the pandemic. Small businesses may apply for up to $5,000 to assist in paying for rent, goods, and other expenses. The deadline to apply is 5pm on January 19, 2021. This public foundation established the Jefferson Awards,a Nobel Prize for Community and Public Service.
