This is the same approach I take with my Remote coaching athletes. I want to tell you about an email I received about a 14 year old quarterback who's been receiving D-I offers since 7th grade.... His name is Ryan Downes. And at 14, he's 6 foot 4 and weighs a full 200 pounds. In other words... He's a specimen. Thing is, when you're receiving serious looks at such a young age, a lot of it is genetic... Meaning that you still have a lot of work to do if you want to unfold into the prospect that these colleges think you will become. You can't get complacent, Stagnant, Or rest on your laurels. If anything you should throw your work ethic into overdrive to exceed the expectations of the scouts watching over you. And the best way to do this is by training for general athleticism. See, a lot of young athletes who get specialized in a sport too early are exposed to an army of imbalances that could lead to devastating injury down the road. Older athletes aren't safe from this either. I remember seeing some stats about multi-sport athletes in high school who made it to the NBA versus athletes who only played basketball in high school and made it to the NBA. The stats compared their injury rates. The basketball specialized athletes were almost 2 times as likely to sustain devastating injury when compared to the multi-sport athletes. Which is why training for general athleticism is so crucial. This means working through multiple planes of motion, building general explosiveness and power (not just stuff specific to your sport), and of course stimulating the muscles in a balanced way. This really comes down to your coach and your programming. An experienced coach will do a pretty good job at giving you a program that won't facilitate imbalances, And more... Will work to bring balance to your body. This is because he knows that good structure and a balanced body will only lead to more athleticism down the line. Weight training isn't about sport-specifics. It's about a balanced approach that will increase performance AND prevent injury. If you're ready to take your athleticism to the next level, I only have a few spots that I'm opening up for athletes who are SERIOUS about their athleticism, and want custom programs to increase their performance and bring up their weaknesses. But, MWA Coaching is only for workhorses. Athletes who are willing to be meticulous in their training. Pay attention to detail. And execute day in and day out. If you can't do that, don't even bother applying. It's a waste of your time and mine. The rest of you, can contact me at (631) 944-1954
