Community of Good Neighbors

This Saturday we had our 2nd Breakfast & the Book. We are often blessed with an abundance of food, so Pastor Miranda brought some fruit and breakfast sandwiches for the folks at the Souls to the Polls event with many community members, including VOICE Buffalo. It is a gift to be among God's people doing their best to uplift their neighbor and remind them of their worth and power. Plus walks are always made easier with a snack, right? You can vote now at early voting sites- encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to use their voice and cast their vote!

In partnership with Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) and International Institute of Buffalo, Jericho Road is hosting a FREE rapid COVID-19 testing event... this Saturday, October 24 from 1-5 p.m. in the parking lot of our West Side health center (184 Barton Street, Buffalo, NY 14213). These rapid tests are diagnostic only (nasal swab) and will provide results within 15 minutes. Testing is free and open to all through the Erie County Department of Health - insurance is not needed. Tests will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Please wear a face mask if you attend this event. You do not need to bring ID or insurance information. Just a reminder that Breakfast & the Book is this Saturday at 10am! we will meet under one of the coverings by the splash pad at MLK Jr park.

In a conversation with a community member, Pastor Miranda learned that some folks were not aware that the food pantry is still open! Our hours are the same (tues,weds,fri 10-12) and the location is still 3 Doat st Buffalo 14211 until our physical site is moved and we begin our mobile pantry.

Spiritual practices that help us connect to our creator are so important. What ways do you take time to connect?

Feeding people goes beyond the physical act of giving someone food. God comes to us at the table; whether that be communion around an alter, a meal around a dinner table, or that bagel you eat in the car on your way to work. We are fed by the love and grace of God in these simple yet necessary aspects of being human. ... God is with us in these things. We see glimpses of the kingdom when we make sure our neighbors are fed. That is our call as followers of Jesus.

You are created in God's image: all of you. You are beloved for exactly who are are: all of you. May the Holy Spirit guide you to community that affirms and uplifts all of who God made you to be, even if you're still trying to figure that out!
