Chabad Relief Project 05.11.2020

Dear Friend, We hope that you are doing well. We are happy to inform you that we WILL be having our Rosh Hashanah food drive distribution! ... However, keeping in mind your safety, and the fact that we still do not have full access to our usual space, packing food boxes will be done by our in house staff at an alternate safe & clean space, adhering to all social distancing guidelines. The area in which we need YOUR help is deliveries! Our staff will bring the already packed food boxes to a designated outdoor space in Midtown on the evening of Monday September 14, where volunteers can pick up the boxes from our truck and then proceed to deliver them to our recipients throughout NYC. If you are interested in helping with delivering boxes, please reply to this post and let us know if you can bring your own car, if you would like to drive along on an assigned route or if you wish to take one or two boxes to a recipient who lives at a location that is convenient for you. In addition, we will also need a separate group of volunteers to meet our truck at 2 particular buildings in lower Manhattan, where we will need help delivering food boxes to the front doors of the many recipients. We ask that you please specify how you would be willing to help, and which hours you will be available on the evening of Monday, September 14. Please provide us with your cell # as well so we can coordinate and let you know the time and place for pickup. Our recipients are counting on us and we will all be doing a great mitzvah by delivering Rosh Hashanah food boxes to them at this auspicious time, when we ask for our own needs for the upcoming new year. You can also Support the Chabad Relief Project by making a tax deductible donation at http://www.chabadreliefny.org/donate Giving Tzedakah (Charity) around the High Holidays is an established Jewish tradition. We look forward to hearing from you, to seeing you in the near future, and we wish you a very happy New Year! Sincerely, Rabbi Noach Heber Nadia Talel, Chief Coordinator Chabad Relief Project

My friends, as I write this, our hired staff are packing close to 200 boxes of Passover foods at our Chabad center (see pics below) and will be delivering them today/tonight to the elderly and disabled who are on lockdown and simply do not have food for the holiday. We need your help now more than ever! If you haven’t yet, Please go to www.matchathon.com/chabadrelief to make a donation which will be matched by CRP extraordinary donors! This is our big fundraiser for the year and we need to be able to continue our vital work! #HappyPassover! #PleaseHelp #Matchathon2020 #ChabadreliefNY Passover food drive in memory of Asher ben yehuda Aryeh Halevi OBM

Dear Friend, After much consideration, we have decided to cancel the volunteering part of our Passover food drive. The process of bringing people together to pack boxes, even if we maintain small groups, is too much of a high-risk activity right now and we must prioritize health and safety above all else. Nevertheless, we are maintaining our commitment to those we serve. The Passover food items have been delivered to our Chabad center, and our wonderful in-house workers will... be taking care of packing and delivering the boxes. If you have a car and are willing to do a delivery route, please let us know and we will arrange a time for you to pick up the boxes while maintaining social distancing. We understand that this is a frustrating and scary time for many, and it is hard to be so isolated when many of us wish that we could come together to take action. But even though we cannot be together in person during these trying times, we can be together in spirit by performing acts of goodness and kindness, which brings us to our Annual Passover Matchathon. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a particularly terrifying impact on the elderly and vulnerable members of our population, many of whom the Chabad Relief Project serves. We remain committed to helping those who depend on us for food assistance, but we cannot do it without your help. During this difficult time, when many of us feel helpless, giving Tzedakah (charity) is one of the most important things we can do to make a difference. Please give by visiting https://matchathon.com/ChabadRelief Every dollar you donate will be matched by our wonderful matching donors, and any amount you give will have an important impact. Please continue to remain safe, we wish you a very happy and healthy Passover. Sincerely, Rabbi Noach Heber Nadia Talel, Chief Coordinator Chabad Relief Project Passover food distribution dedicated to Chaim Asher Halevi Ben Shprintza Perel Heber for a complete and speedy recovery.

Dear friends, volunteers and supporters. We hope that you are doing well in these turbulent times. We assume that you have been receiving lots of information of what actions to take to protect yourself from COVID-19. Please continue to keep yourself informed and stay up to date with announcements from health authorities and officials, so we can all do our part in protecting ourselves and those around us. ... As you know, Chabad Relief Project is all about people coming together to do the important Mitzvah of providing others with food assistance. The tentative date for the our next food drive distribution is Tuesday, March 31. However, due to quarantines and the fact that the CDC has advised against gatherings of over 10 people for the next few weeks, we might have to restructure the time/date and the number of volunteers that can attend. That being said, we are committed to do everything in our power to get our mostly elderly recipients the food they need, especially for the upcoming Passover holiday. We are monitoring the day to day advisories from health and local government officials and we will keep you posted on any decisions as the situation progresses. We are also planing our fourth annual Passover matchathon online. Now more than ever, our seniors are vulnerable and reliant on us for food assistance. We hope to inspire as many as possible to participate in our annual matchathon to raise the necessary funds to continue our vital work. Wishing you #ShabbatShalom May Shabbat bring healing to all those in need and to the world at large.
