Update On the First African American Veterans MonumentBuffalo Ny) Today Americans everywhere pause to observe Veterans Day. This year, the African American Veterans Monument Committee celebrates Veterans Day quietly reflecting on the sacrifices made by African American Veterans while continuing to advance the Monument’s construction despite unpredicted challenges and setbacks. ... As a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, administrative delays have caused the construction schedule and dedication of the Monument to be pushed back to 2021. However, the Committee recently learned that New York State’s Finance Committee approved the release of construction funds that will be released once the New York State Dormitory Authority (DASNY) operations resume; a promising step forward.
