Dead Alfalfa... Something we're becoming all too familiar with this spring. It was a perfect storm of early freeze, saturated conditions and melt events coupled with rapid refreeze that resulted in inches of ice suffocating our Alfalfa crowns and even grasses. Most of the stand assessments we have made this spring go into just about 2 categories, bad and worse. Try to salvage the "bad" for heifer feed or interseed supplemental forage and roll the "worse" to corn.

Zach has been busy in the meter room, getting meters cleaned and calibrated for the upcoming planting season.

You can't talk crop planners without pizza and wings! This time of year we are reviewing the crop planners for the following season with each of our clients. We discuss what will be planted where, how much fertilizer to spread, and the pH/Lime and soil sample reports from the previous year. Each farm is different and requires a unique plan, so we take the time to ensure we're on the same page as the farmers that we work for. Keeping everyone well fed in the process doesn't hurt either!
