Samuel de Champlain History Center

Although we're closed, some History Center projects are still going forward (in strict social isolation, of course!) The photo digitization project for which we received a grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership is underway, and as the collection is scanned we'll continue to have new and exciting snippets of Champlain's, and Clinton County's, past for you all to take a look at!

With the vital importance of, and attention on, grocery shopping and supplies these past few weeks, we've been rediscovering and appreciating our collection of grocery circulars and sale flyers from various establishments active throughout the twentieth century...

While we won't be in churches--or out on the town, like the people of Champlain in 1930, 1939, 1947, and 1928, below--we hope that all who are celebrating Easter today have a joyful and meaningful day.

We may be closed, but here's a tiny snippet of the exhibit to view at home, primarily featuring items from the Broadmount Ski Factory (and also, if you've got sharp eyes, the phonograph player we posted about last week!) In keeping with the public health situation at this time, the History Center will be closed to visitors indefinitely. We'll be popping up here on FB from time to time with some Champlain history treasures for you all to enjoy at home, so watch this space--but for the present please try to watch it safe from home if at all possible!
