The 2020 Early Detection Report generated by Adirondack Research shows the aquatic plant beds in the Upper Lake. They also catalogued the size and density of the beds of Eurasian watermilfoil.

SUMMER MAY SEEM FAR AWAY but the Chateauagay Lake Foundation is busy with planning for next summer. We are now asking for volunteers to PLEDGE ONE DAY FOR CHATE...AUGAY. The Chateaugay Lake Foundation is seeking volunteers who will pledge just one summer day for the lake. We need volunteers to: a. Assist the dive teams when hand harvesting. Hand harvesting can be dangerous when boats are traveling through and around the dive zones. We want to help keep our divers safe by providing additional boats around the dive area. Divers also need assistance with keeping the dive zone free of fragments generated during hand harvesting. The divers will be active in all areas of the lake next summer so please let us know your preference for location. b. Boat Steward assistance: During high volume days such as fishing tournaments and holiday weekends, we need volunteers at the boat launch who will interact with boaters in a friendly way to spread the message about invasives. c. Cleanup Days: After the July 4th holiday, we have an annual cleanup day around the Sand Bar due to the increased boat traffic. In addition, usually in late July, the South Inlet has days where the milfoil is breaking up and forming mats. If these mats are removed, they will not reinvest other areas of the lake. d. Lake Tracker survey: we are mapping the narrows and lower lake using a GPS program called Survey123. If you are interested in helping to map the milfoil beds in the lake, we would love to have your help. This helps to target our invasive removal efforts in the future.
