Several years ago, CTW produced a "Budaixi" traditional glove puppets version of the Purim story. Using puppets from our "Hao Bang Ah, Zodiac!" series to play the epic story of Queen Esther (Golden Bunny), her Uncle Mordecai (Ram), , Persian Emperor Ahasuarus (Dragon King), evil Prime Minister Haman (Tiger). With thanks to Harrison Greene, Joe Therrian, Jenny Romaine, Chazzan Moishe Bear and the good folks at Temple Gates of Prayer.

Happy Lantern Festival! The Lantern Festival is also a traditional Chinese holiday that means the end of the New Year. Since ancient times, people have had the custom of eating Rice dumplings (Yuanxiao) and watching lanterns. This day happens to be a good time for unmarried men and women to meet. It is also called the traditional Chinese Valentine's Day. Although outdoor activities have been cancelled because of the pandemic, a bowl of hot Rice Dumplings will bring the family together. #theater #CTW #folkart #chinese #dragon #chineseopera #chineseart #offbraodeay #offoffbroadway #shadowpuppets #shadowpuppet #shadowtheatre #puppetshow #shadowshow #puppetry #puppettheater #puppetmaker #puppetworkshop #puppetry #artworkshop #chinesetheatreworks
