Jesus told this parable to wake us up to the reality of the poor. God wants us to have the same generous heart that He has; one ready to give freely to people in need, materially or spiritually. Jesus' parable shows us just how important it is to God that we take care of one another. Let us open our eyes and our hearts to someone who could use more of Gods love in their life; through prayers, presence and provision. Jesus, give me Your heart for the 'Lazarus' in my life. Amen!

"It is a lesson we all need, to let alone the things that do not concern us. He has other ways for others to follow Him; all do not go by the same path. It is for each of us to learn the path by which He requires us to follow Him, and to follow Him in that path." - Saint Katherine Drexel

In today's first reading they want to kill the prophet Jeremiah, but don't want to admit they're doing anything wrong, so they come up with excuses to rationalize their behavior. Like them, we too can resort to excuses and redirection to try and rationalize sin. But we have the Holy Spirit within us pricking our conscience, urging us to repent. Even if His voice is faint, the Holy Spirit cries out to us to turn back, to look towards our Heavenly Father. When you feel Him spea...king to you, don't turn away, quiet yourself and listen. Let Him convince you it is far better to confess sin than to live with it. Let Him prove to you that Gods love is far more satisfying than sin; and that He is warm and merciful to everyone who comes to Him for forgiveness. Lord, heal the blindness that keeps me from recognizing my sins. Help me listen to You. Amen.

All Parents: Just a reminder to please stop by anytime to pick up a set of books at St Leo’s Church Hall (in the entranceway, on the right) to continue your families faith formation (in the very best place) at home with you! One book for the kids, and one book for the parents. If you know another family who would also appreciate this program/these books, please pick up books for them too! We can order more if we need them. Please feel free to help yourself to one of the Bibles and/or Lenten booklets, and rice bowls, as well.

What we aim for has big impact on whether we ever hit the mark. Achieving justice is an ongoing task, that begins with one step in the right direction. Blessed Frederic Ozanam, founder of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, began his work by delivering his own supply of winter firewood to a widow. One act of charity at a time and soon after, he and his friends looked after the poor of Paris. Eventually their authentic practice of the gospel caught on, now 800,000 members in 140 countries are following along his same path of concern for the poor. Rise to meet a single visible need, then faithfully continue to tread the path of justice. Trust God will give guidance and provision. The Lord hears the cry of every victim of injustice and asks us to do the same. Father, help me find the way to make justice my aim. Amen.
