As we prepare for a potentially significant amount of snow accumulation in the coming days, we would like to remind everyone of the Snow Ordinance during storms.... Please do not park vehicles on public streets after the accumulation of two or more inches of snow, between the hours of 9:00PM and 7:00AM. Please utilize private driveways or municipal lots located throughout the city. We thank you for your cooperation and allowing our public works to safely and effectively plow city streets. Be safe!
The PBA would like to congratulate Sands Frost on his promotion to Chief, as well as Michael O'Connor on his promotion to Sergeant. Best of luck, gentlemen!
At 11:24 pm the Beacon PD recieved a call for a missing and injured hiker in the vicinity of Long Dock Park. Officers were dispatched to the area and were able ...to locate the subject at Dennings Point along the river, down a steep embankment and laying in the water. Beacon FD and BVAC were requested to the scene as the hiker was unable to walk and possibly hypothermic. Due to the nature of the hiker's injuries, terrain and the remoteness of the location, officers utilized the department's UTV to transport rescue personnel and equipment to assist the hiker. The hiker was successfully extracted from the location and taken off the trail on the UTV to an awaiting ambulance and transported to the hospital to recieve medical attention. The PBA would like to thank Beacon Professional Firefighters - IAFF Local 3490 and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps for their quick response and expertise. We are proud to work along such outstanding individuals.
National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives. Now in its 31st year, Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those living in recovery. Addiction and mental health disorders are a serious problem in our country, but there is hope! Our close partnership with Hope Not Handcuffs provides a way for those suffering with addiction to get the help they need. We are here to help.

The City of Beacon Police would like to inform the public we have and will continue performing security checks of businesses inside the city after hours. After an officer performs a check of a business, he or she will periodically complete the department's below pictured hanger and place it on the door of the business. Due to limited supplies, if you do not receive a door hanger it does not necessarily mean the business was not checked. The purpose of business checks is to prevent and detect criminal activity. Officers occasionally come across doors left unlocked while checking businesses and then attempt to lock the door or contact the owner. It is highly encouraged that any new business owner's inform the police station of their contact information for any emergency.
