The CLC Lions Roar For Veterans program provides this information (11% food discount) for the benefit of all Veterans, and adds their thanks to them for their service. Remember November 11th is Veterans Day: October 19, 2020 Dear neighbor, Throughout the year we recognize the service of the men and women who fought and continue to fight for our country’s freedom. On Veterans Day, we are especially reminded of their bravery, heroism and we honor their contribution to our n...ation. On Wednesday, November 11, Tops Friendly Markets will once again offer an 11 percent discount off of a total order to all veterans and their immediate family members who shop at any Tops location. Customers should present proof of service that they, or a family member living in the same household are a U.S. Veteran, active duty, reserve or retired military personnel to automatically receive an 11 percent discount off of their total purchase that day. For many years, Tops Friendly Markets has had a strong commitment to supporting our military associates and customers, including our support of the Honor Flight Missions, American Veterans Tribute Traveling Wall, sending care packages for troops serving domestically and overseas, and participation in veteran job fairs, parades and expo's. One thing we can all say for certain is that this pandemic has changed the world as we once knew it. All aspects of our lives including school, work and home have been affected, but together we are a strong nation and community. The respect and gratitude we have for our veterans is immeasurable - this is just our small way of saying thank you. Sincerely, Frank Curci Chief Executive Officer and Board Chairman Tops Friendly Markets See more

A big Lions Roar to Lions Mike Sykes, Mary Sykes, Barb Hildreth and Diane Seward ! Canandaigua Lions Club Several Canandaigua Lions got together in mid June to transfer... some picnic tables that they had previously donated from one spot to another. They were originally given to the local Veteran’s Club, a place where veterans could gather and watch TV, play cards, and have dinner five times a week. Unfortunately due to declining attendance that venue was forced to shutter, so Lion Mary Sykes orchestrated the movement of the tables to another facility, Eagle Star Housing. Others who helped with the task were Canandaigua Lions Mike Sykes, Diane Seward, and Barb Hildreth, along with two volunteers (Diane’s husband Jim and Mary’s neighbor Max). The goal of Eagle Star Housing is to get veterans the assistance they need, prevent homelessness, resolve challenges and connect them with services they need to be restored to independent living. While the goal is the sameindependent livingthe journey to achieve that goal is unique to each person. Eagle Star Housing currently provides transitional housing for several months and operates a 20-bed house for the Safe Haven Veterans program locally. Training is offered to the residents in life skills and Eagle Star is able to provide transportation to appointments. Their primary objective is to enable their residents to transition to self-sufficiency in stable housing within three months. The staff helps the majority of those who complete the program to find long-term stable housing. The others need supportive housing, long-term residential care, or nursing home care.
