Due to the rise in COVID-19, our County Government has advised our department to go as low staff as possible. Starting tomorrow, we will be having one staff member at a time in the office, and our doors will remain locked as we cannot have walk-ins or appointments at this time. We can still serve you via phone or email so please call us with any questions, needs, or concerns you have regarding your VA Benefits or case file here in the office.

As we have had a lot of people wanting to request records, we thought it would be a good idea to fill everyone in on the National Personnel Records Centers current status regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Staffing continues to be cut to a minimum meaning that only emergency records should be requested.

We get a great number of calls regarding the Hometown Heroes Program for the City of Plattsburgh. Although we are in the city, we do not run the program. Here is a link that explains the program and provides links to the application as well. If you live in another town that has this same program, we always refer to that particular town's offices to purchase your banner. These banners are fabulous, and we love seeing them all around our county!

Our office is currently back to our normal operating hours, BUT we are requiring an appointment if you need to see our staff. Give us a call and we will get you in as soon as possible and can make some the same day appointments. We are still observing social distancing, so we require you to wear a mask and to try to keep several feet apart. If your needs can be handled via phone, email, or fax, we will try to use those options first. Thank you to everyone who has been so patient and understanding during this time! A note to those who see our state representative, Tracie Reece: Tracie is still working mostly from home, but is able to make appointments for two days a week. If you call us, we will get you connected, or you can continue to email her as well.

Just a quick update from our home offices: We are still taking phone calls and emails, but are closed to the public as we observe the rules of social distancing during the state of emergency. We apologize for how this may be affecting you during this time, but we have to do our best to keep everyone safe and healthy. Phone calls and emails to [email protected] are going to our director's phone, where he then relays messages to specific people in the office that work with you. We will do our best to get in touch with you. Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay home if you can. Thank you!

Due to the State of Emergency, our office is currently not able to service walk-ins or face-to-face appointments, and we will only have half of our staff on duty at a time. We ask that you please call us with any issues, questions, or concerns while we observe social distancing. Please know that most claims or VA-related issues can be handled via phone, fax, or email. We are still here for you, and thank you for cooperating with these new guidelines until the State of Emergency is lifted. Phone: 518-565-4720 Fax: 518-565-4721 Email: [email protected]
