Another reason is you wanna know you know the houses you're looking at that you can actually qualify to purchase. You it will also help you out a little bit to know what you need to do to qualify for a larger mortgage. Once you get that pre approval letter at once you qualify for that, and I've seen this happen before, do not go out and buy a new car, do not go out and get another loan, do not open up another credit card, those are all things that will affect your credit and may now change your approval status for the mortgage.
