Last night I made butter in our Butter Making Class, and this morning I was able to enjoy it on my bagel! Win! [FYI - I used the old fashioned 'shake the cream in a jar' method, and even though everyone laughed because I was using the most primitive method, it came out great! And did NOT take all night.] Missed the class? Stay tuned... more to come.

November 1: Today in History - 1512: The Sistine Chapel ceiling, painted by Michelangelo, is opened to the public. [Normally, I only post American history here, but I had to include this one. In 2014, I was lucky enough to go to Italy and see the Sistine Chapel in person. The ceiling was the most incredible thing I've ever seen and that vision will stay with me forever. I encourage you to see it someone if you can.] 1765: British Parliament enacts the Stamp Act, a tax to rai...se revenue for the British military in America. (You know how the colonists felt about that.) 1800: President John Adams, in his last year as president, moves into the newly constructed White House. 1950: An assassination attempt is made on President Harry Truman. A secret service agent was killed, but Truman got out unscathed. The attacker was convicted and sentenced to death, but Truman commuted the sentence to life instead. 1952: The US detonates the world's first hydrogen bomb in the Pacific. Did you remember to move your clock back? Not that we needed any more of 2020....
