A Fireside Chat is an informal yet structured interview that brings information, with a personal touch, to the audience. It provides the space to have honest conversations about the COVID-19 vaccines from trusted... community voices . To reach more community members to spread the word, we developed this toolkit to help you run your very own virtual Fireside Chat. About 75 to 85 percent of New Yorkers need to get vaccinated for all of New York to be protected. Many New Yorkers are hesitant to get vaccinated. Furthermore, there is a lot of misinformation about the vaccines. You can help educate and inform New Yorkers to make sure they have access to the best knowledge available. Your voice will be essential to get the facts to your community and beyond. One way you can do this is by running your own Fireside Chat to further our mission of building trust, educating communities, and helping New Yorkers make informed decisions about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Working people have borne the brunt of the pandemic with their lives and livelihoods. And, unless New York raises revenue to fund vitall services, they will be the victim of the crisis once again. New York must fully fund critical services through a combination of raising billions of dollars in new revenue from those who are not currently paying their fair share and with support from the federal government. Relying on one or the other is not sufficient and will not sustainably support New York’s recovery.

We need the next generation of prospective union leaders, diverse in experience and background, to join the ranks of the labor movement and help us make us all ...union strong. As part of our commitment to fostering equity in our movement and ensuring our leadership reflects its membership, the New York State AFL-CIO Social Justice Task Force has proposed, and the Executive Council has approved, providing Union L.E.A.D. (Leadership Equity and Development) scholarships for the Cornell Union Leadership Institute.
