Coachlight Inn 04.04.2021

It''s colder than this girls mammaries out there today. looks like a bunch of folks lost power last night. The ladies and gentlemen from national grid did a great job getting it back on. How chilly of a job would that have been? So here's the special boards and, a semblance of a lunch menu... with the lunch specials on the chalk board so... maybe a dinner menu?... Thanks for sticking around and caring. I love you all, mean it.

chchchchanges.. Sorry about this, I guess its an everyday thing now, at least for a while. The chalk board is the bar and or lunch specials, whereas the dry erase board are the dinner specials.... We are still having a few hiccups, troubles with the person running the phone for instance..... We have a couple of reservation issues we are trying to work out as well. Stupid Covid... those rules don't make it easier, but when it's over things should be a breeze, and we'll be able to feel it without our mask on... I'm trying to get everyone to write the same abbreviated orders on there checks so we don't have any redos on the orders... even that went pretty good last night. So the more things change the more they stay the same, like the beautiful mug on the babe in the third photo and her handsome stud. I love having my people back around me. Thanks for sticking by us, we are trying very hard do do things right. I love you all, mean it. Thanks for putting up with us.

weekend number three.. Here's the special boards for anyone thinking about lunch or dinner in Brantingham today. I'm trying my best to get some new things in the mix, the enchiladas for instance. The usual items cordons and riggies and such are going pretty well. Everything is still working... even me... for now... holy smokes does working make me feel old. Did I say feel?, I am old. I had reruns of bewitched on the TV and I think I'm the same age as Endora... I'm not quite ...at the age of Aunt Edna yet, am I? The snow is still falling right now, a fresh inch or two is on the base, and that base is a solid glacier of ice. Rumor has it that there's and end of February thaw coming later this weekend. It certainly doesn't feel that way right now. Who knows... Beth Hall??? anybody?? So I'm going back in the kitchen. I hope you all are safe and happy and I love you all, mean it.

And today's featured items are.... I'm doing corned beef Rubens to practice for the weekend... wish me luck. Jake Anderson was in and gave us these super cool wall hangings. Jake started up a business called Adirondack Laser and they laser etch on wood, leather, steel, heck he even showed me a knife he did. Check out ADKLaser. com and see for yourself... lasers are cool Bevis... heh heh heh... the Beautiful young woman in the first paragraph is Beth Gydesen. Beth and her family Bob and Janet and brother Brad have been part time Brantingham residents since before I got here. I met Beth when I was a lifeguard at Whetstone Gulf in the eighties. She would stand by the guard chair in her blue and white swimming suit and listen to my jokes all day... or as long as her parents would let her anyway.. She had a beautiful, inocent soul, and now she's back in her father's arms, and what more could any father want.. Rest easy and fly high Beth. So to say we have been busy is almost an understatement. Thanks everyone for your patience... I have none... in my mind we've already been open for months and it should be going like clockwork.. and it is.. mostly.. sorta... I love you all, mean it.

Shelly's game...? Ok, shell game but with red solo cups, just like on the Price is Right... except nothing like it at all. Under one of these cups is the answer to when we will open...I can't remember which one.. and I don't know the answer...but sooner than later. Doug, Makenzie, Broc, Shelly and I spent most of the last few days scrubbing these floors to get ready for acid staining. I think we have all learned that scrubbing floors isn't that much fun, but, Shelly and I got... up early this morning to mop up the mixture. After about three hours we did three passes so we went home for lunch and guess what? Neither of us feel like going go back over...But we will in a bit, and do, hopefully, the last three passes. So life imitates art, wax on, wax off, moppa the floor, good boy bobbyson. CoachLight Kai...hiya..karate chop. Don't be messing with us we are in training. Also, thanks guys for your help.. Now on a more serious note Don Schneider a long time resident of Brantingham has passed. I'm not here to spread the story just to say that we are truly sorry to have lost a neighbor, and friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to the whole family. Where do I go from here but to say I love you all, mean it. You can never let the people around you know how you feel enough times because you just don't know... nobody knows.

things are getting technical while we strike while the iron is hot and keep our nose to the stone. Kevin Lyndacker and his son Josh are nothing short of amazing. I was going to wait to do any inside shots until we can let people in for really, but I can't take my eyes off this stove and stone work. Yes that is a picture of Kevin working, yes Kevin works, but Josh is an absolute bull. These guys have stolen Rembrandts and Picasso eyes or something. It's so amazing to watch a p...ile of nothing turn into something that cool. Lowville Mason Supply, Moose River Hearth and Patio, whatever they go by, call and get your appointment now because these guys are busy... because they're worth it. Plus Kevin is pretty fun to listen to while it's happening. If you're lucky enough to get them to do your stone work... stick around and listen to the whole show... This local family has concrete in their veins. If you get a chance ask them about their chimlies. Maple Ridge Metal Arts owner and operator Marvin Roes chopped up some metal art for us. I don't have any pictures of him, I'm not showing off his work he did for the restaurant because I want a couple of surprises for when we open, but man....Thank you. The Monet of Metal and his work is on my walls and doors...it's the coolest. They are located on Bostwick street in Lowville in the same building as Kevin and Josh at Moose River Hearth and Patio. You know what they say birds of a feather, saws, brushes and chisels in the same area...or something like that. Don and Budda Christian posing with Shelly upstairs in the office. Trust me these guys aren't posers. The Christian family has a communication company, Christian Connections, and they whole heartedly jumped in at a moment's notice... they, I'm sure had better things to do.. and finished up our security system. Don explained how it works so even I can understand how to run it...you understand by now I'm not the quickest study... . He showed me some of his own stuff that's smoking hot and way too cool for this cat. He has a digital camera set up that amplified to 25 times and can pinpoint on anything in the yard. Real James Bond stuff. It's great to have friends like this, talented that is.... and fun to be around. 2020 may not have been the best of years, but I for one think it brought out the best in a lot of people. I can't say it enough... obviously.... but I do, I love you all, mean it.

Back in the gutter on Christmas Eve. I have spent a long time dragging myself out of the gutter only to have their king drag me back in. Bob Lampack and His son Brian are the gutter kings, gutter makers. They bend them on sight. Both just happen to be very good musicians that have played in the old bar, and hopefully will again when we are done with this one. Oh sure it took sober Bob a few minutes to figure this out, but in my defense king Bob didn't have so much facial hai...r the last time I saw him... also sober Bob isn't as quick as drunk Bob was. Don Baldino and his young apprentice Chris.... sorry I can't remember Chris's last name... damn sober Bob... installed the bar tops and backs last weekend.... It was a very long and heavy weekend. I for one think it was worth it but, I didn't do the majority of the work, or have to pump out any cash... thanks Don. If you see that guy standing in the bar ever find h a stool he deserves it. Don is a very generous guy. It's Christmas Eve as I am writing this so Merry Christmas to you and yours. I am one of the lucky ones that have a reservation for church tonight with my mother...take a guess who got the reservation? I am looking forward to it so I can give thanks for all of you, and pray for a better year to come. I love you all, mean it, and I hope you get what you want for Christmas.

I don't want to sneak in any of the interior photos so I'm putting up some of the people who are helping me make it beautiful. Don't take any of these guys for granite.... if you know what I mean. It has been a really long couple of weeks without a break and I for one am nearly broken. Who goes to bed at ten and gets up at five? It was only a year ago when I was going to bed at five and getting up at ten.... I can't really say I feel any more rested. Once a night owl always a... night owl, or can you teach an old owl new tricks? I don't give a hoot. Christmas is almost here. What is it like a week away. In two weeks we can put this year behind us? What a tumbler it's been, however if you look around, we still all have each other. I have certainly had a weird year... to put it mildly. The absolute best thing about it is, I can see how many people I have in my corner. For me It's going to be a great Christmas. I may not be with all the people I want to be with but my heart is full. If you are still interested in gift giving I have some holiday certificates printed up. You can mail a check to us or stop by and pick one up on person... we will try to be as safe as possible in the transfer... still no credit cards at this time, sorry. So to everyone. I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a healthy end to this year. I love you all, mean it.

Harry Potter...more like Scary Potter... I have graduated to bifocals, trouble is I was blind when I picked out the frames, and wearing a mask so I thought I looked good... then they put the lenses in and the mask came off... it's a whole new story. To be fair, I don't think it's the glasses fault. There's only so much you can do with a mug like this. They came with a free wand. Mine must have got lost in the mail. Some how this sign has been overlooked in the front. I found ...it a few days back and got quite a grin. Whoever made it and dropped it off, thank you. It's awfully cute. For now it sits on the kissing bridge till we find it's permanent home. The lights are on, and we are hooked up to a grid that delivers electricity. If only I could get a copy of the master map to the electrical panel life would get simpler. Things are really looking good even with the short days because, well we have light inside... hooray.... The panels will be labeled next week. Good things come to those that wait....I read that in a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant...it's ironic that their service was slow and the rice undercooked. There were three days worth of work involved, a new pole, and Connor Dykeman freezing his butt off in a bucket, as well as many of his brothers in hardhats doing a bunch of grunt work. Thanks local national grid guys... Doug Hunt got his brushes out and laid on three coats of poly to protect this valuable wood going up. Billy and Brian worked through the wee hours all weekend to get the inside electric done in the bar, Justin Landauer cut, furnished, and installed the mirrors behind the bar and Anthony Volk worked so hard and so fast that my camera couldn't capture his image. If you know any of these guys they are cut of the same mold. All are great friends and super helpful. It is so appreciated by Shelly and I for not just the efforts of the ones mentioned but everyone that has helped in so many ways. And so comes the time to end this story for this week. Hopefully there will be a bunch more progress next week to report. Here's the thing, I think you know but, I'll say it all again...I love you all, mean it. Stay safe and healthy out there.
