Last night company members performed weekly rig check to ensure that everything works and runs as it’s expected to! As we kickoff the new year, we wanna remind folks that members are around every Monday night at each firehouse if you’re interested in volunteering and/or seeing what the Croton Fire Department has to offer. Feel free to stop by! New members are always welcome!

Happy New Year, neighbors! Croton Fire is always looking for new members. No experience required, and training is provided! Please come down to visit us on a Monday night around 7pm when we're performing our weekly rig check. Our members would be happy to talk about what we do, who we are, and the various ways we serve our community. (Note: we have five fire companies across the three fire houses. You are encouraged to determine which would be the best fit for YOU before you make a decision).

The Fire Patrol Elves worked in shifts last night and worked hard to get Rescue18 ready for Santa’s sleigh ride through town! Make sure to come outside and wave to Santa as he makes his way around Croton, starting at 6pm tonight from Harmon firehouse (see the last picture for the full route)!

It’s Member Monday! This week’s featured member is Katrina, or Kat for short. Kat has been in Croton Fire Patrol for 11 months but has grown up around Fire Patrol. Her dad, Gregg, served as Captain of Croton Fire Patrol and had all of her uncles within various departments across Westchester and Dutchess counties. She grew up in Harmon Firehouse and loves spending time around the firehouse and Rescue18. Kat currently serves on three committees within Fire Patrol as the Chair ...of the Room Committee and the Mentorship Committee, where she works to help new members get better acclimated, involved, and comfortable to Fire Patrol and the first responder environment. She also works on the Social Media committee. She’s currently enrolled in the 100+ hour Firefighter I class that trains entry level firefighters in Basic Exterior Firefighter Operations (BEFO) and Interior Firfighter Operations (IFO).

It’s Member Monday! This week’s featured member is Kimberley, who also goes by the nickname Mimi. Mimi has been in Croton Fire Patrol for 3 years. She has previously volunteered in Chappaqua Volunteer Fire Department from 2010-2012 and is currently a volunteer at Croton EMS, where she joined in 2017. Mimi currently serves as a Rescue-18 driver, and has recently completed the 63 hour Fire Officer 1 class at the County Training Center. She is one of the top responders in o...ur company, and hopes to become an Officer in the future. Additionally, she serves on our Membership Committee, Room Committee, By-Law Committee, and the Social Media Committee. She chose to join Fire Patrol because of existing friendships with several members, and frequent presence/proximity to the Harmon Firehouse courtesy of her involvement with Croton EMS. She has frequently been on calls with Rescue18 such as motor vehicle accidents and Carbon Monoxide with symptoms, where her experience as an EMT is beneficial. Mimi was introduced to the fire service through her dad, who was a fire commissioner for 28 years at the Chappaqua Volunteer Fire Department; her brother has also been a firefighter for 19 years.

Hey there Croton neighbors! Just a quick reminder ... please, don't be "that guy" who parks in front of hydrants and prevents FD access at a critical time. Let's all work together to keep each other safe. The house you help protect might be your own!
