Happy Women’s History Month to the many incredible women in our community who make Collegiate what it is! Today we honor and acknowledge the start of Women's History Month - commemorating and encouraging the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in history. Each year the National Women’s History Alliance announces the theme for the month and this year it is: "Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to Be Silenced." We challenge all members of our community to educate themselves and reflect on the impact that women have made on our all lives as we use this month to highlight the achievements of so many incredible individuals #collegiatenyc #womenshistorymonth

We would like to thank the Jamaa Student leaders for the incredible work and commitment that they have put into highlighting Black voices and contributions which have been forgotten, ignored, or erased. Over the entire month of February, the Collegiate community received daily infographics with pictures, quotes, and background information about Black people who have made significant impacts via art, politics, science, and other fields. Today the community received an email fr...om Elijah W. ‘21 reminding us that the month of February has come to a close, and that means that Black History Month is at its end as well. We do want to stress, however, that our celebration of Black history is not for just this month, because Black history is American history, and we will continue to celebrate the lives and histories of Black people all across the world. We hope you all had a joyful and inspiring Black History Month, and we hope our blurbs of famous and not-so-famous influential Black people have helped everyone learn a little bit more about how Black people have shaped the world we live in today. Just as they have highlighted the incredible work of others we hope to do the same for their work. On behalf of the entire Collegiate community we thank you! #blackhistorymonth #Jamaa #collegiatenyc
