Center on Global Economic Governance 02.04.2021

Recognizing the imperative of restoring global growth, the Columbia Global Center | Rio de Janeiro and the Center on Global Economic Governance at Columbia-SIPA have joined forces to produce a ten-part series, entitled "The Changing Role of the State". The series brings together experts from around the world, including Brazil and other emerging markets. The series will treat subjects ranging from fiscal and monetary challenges, inequality and health, labor markets and social ...policies, and key sectors, such as energy and technology. Beginning on January 28-29, the global outlook and its impact on Brazil and other emerging economies were examined by renowned economic experts in two 90-minute webinars. The next two sessions on February 25 and 26 will explore the critically important components of the growth imperative, focusing on fiscal and monetary issues. On January 28th and 29th, the Center on Global Economic Governance and the Columbia Global Center | Rio de Janeiro hosted the first two events of a ten-part conference series focused on growth and employment in the aftermath of the pandemic. Join the Center on Global Economic Governance and the MPA in Economic Policy Management for the series: The World Economy: Views of Chief Economists," presenting world-renowned economists from the private and public sector to discuss current global economic challenges and their perspectives of the future. On February 23, 2021, Catherine L. Mann, Global Chief Economist at Citibank, will deliver the first lecture in this series, entitled Global Economic Outlook Post Covid-19:... Road to Recovery?. Jan Svejnar, James T. Shotwell Professor of Global Political Economy and Director, Center on Global Economic Governance, Columbia SIPA, will serve as moderator. Prior to Citibank, Dr. Mann was Chief Economist at the OECD, where she also was Director of the Economics Department and was Finance Deputy to the G20 (2014-2017). The economic priorities for a New World, Jan Svejnar, Professor and Director of the Center on Global Economic Governance (CGEG) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, and Jeffrey D.
