This little article has a few nice shots of some of the the murals at Commerce. If you play the video and go to about 2:20 in the video they begin talking about the murals and they show some nice shots of the bar room mural. http://owningnewyork.com//interview-with-nicolai-from-co/

David's in the New York Times again. Todays art section of the New York Times, the article is called "Where the Password is Deco, and the Decor is Period Gold". They cover several spots in the city including Commerce restaurant. In the actual paper they have a really big picture of one of the sisters, (you can see here as well) and they also include a smaller shot of part of the new mural over the bar. If you read the article on line you need to go to the slide show to see the images of Davids work.

The very brilliant (Princeton educated) philosopher/humble guy Chapman took it upon himself to write about my murals in the restaurant. He has edited his incredible observations and insights into a really nice little page that you can take with you, along with what is always guaranteed to be a fantastic dining experience. I found Chapman’s literary insights so amazingly accurate that it actually helped remind me that art is my first language and that when I’m doing it correct...ly, people who can read that language are able to extend the communication into words that might go through my head but otherwise only stay locked in the canvas (trying to emote but not necessarily articulating so specifically the true intent). I used to be OK with that... but after seeing what someone can translate into words, I'm rethinking the importance of those very unique people like Chapman who can read beyond distance, through images and ideas and skillfully explain the primary impetus of a visual narrative. I am now very seriously looking into the possibility of working with Chapman to make a book about the art that has been part of the history of 50 Commerce Street. In the mean time, have a look and if art isn’t you’re bag, you got to eat! The food is consistently the best! See more
