REVISED: WE FOUND SOMEONE!!! Thank you to everyone who commented with ideas and possibilities. Tessa is so happy. Dog friends in Potsdam, our beloved friend and dog groomer, Larry Loomis, is reeling from the recent diagnosis of cancer. He is giving away all of his small dogs and another of our friends, Tessa Raybuck, is taking little Mabel. She is looking to have her transported from Larry's in Potsdam to Rochester over the next 3 days. She will pay for gas. If it can't be done that soon, transport would be needed all the way to Virginia. Any help is greatly appreciated.
And........ revised again! Due to injury, our backhoe operator will not be working in the park this weekend, so the park is open as usual, dawn to dusk. Masks, social distancing, hand sanitizer, and sign-ins still high priority. Let's keep the park a safe place for us humans as well as for our pups! <3
Nicole Ouellette has been reunited with her dog Brandy!!! We are so grateful and happy!!! She was found by the Potsdam PD in a sinkhole (!) and brought to the Potsdam Humane Society who recognized her. Hurray for good news!!!
On Monday morning, 9/28 we will have perhaps the last mowing of the season, 10am-12:30pm. Please avoid the park at that time as all utility gates will be open. Thank you for your understanding. (Also, only the large dog area is open these days. Small dog area will open back up at a later date.) And the Dog Park would like to say a bittersweet farewell to one of our dearest friends and strongest supporters, Linda Caamaño, who is moving out of the area to beautiful Vermont. She has helped us hone our message, our rules, our training, and our park etiquette. She is a powerhouse of a dog whisperer, a great community spirit, and my dog and I and all of us will miss her and her family greatly. Linda, thank you for everything.
Thank you all for your patience during this difficult pandemic. WE ARE OPENING OUR GATES FROM DAWN TO DUSK AGAIN, beginning tonight at 5pm, 9/21/20! However, the St. Lawrence Country Dept. of Health requires that in order for us to be open without a monitor while our county still has several active cases, we must have a way to track park users for the purpose of COVID-19 contact tracing. So please SIGN IN each time you enter the park until further notice (pens provided). Of c...ourse, MASKS and SOCIAL DISTANCING are still required as well. Enjoy the beautiful outdoor space all winter long, but please be responsible for your dogs and your behavior. We don't want to become a site for spreading any virus, human or canine! Our RULES: https://static1.squarespace.com//Dog+Park+Rules+NEW+Vertic and... we are in dire need of funds because we weren't able to hold any fundraisers this year. (We pay for mowing, plowing, garbage removal, stump removal, fence repair, liability insurance, and more.) We know many are suffering because of this uncertain time, but if you're able, PLEASE DONATE: http://www.potsdamdogpark.org/donate
Doodle link for this week’s Dog Park Openings: https://doodle.com/poll/z69qzbias3vws64n Please remember to wear a mask and clean up after your beautiful dogs! And we are still on the lookout for Brandy, so please see the attached flyer and hold Nicole in your hearts. Thank you.
Hello again, Here is the schedule for the coming week beginning tomorrow, Monday: https://doodle.com/poll/akxib2xw3cqdy799 Please remember our rules and to wear your mask. http://www.potsdamdogpark.org/etiquette ... Two households we would like to put in our Dog Park prayers: Nicole Ouellette and her lost dog Brandy (please share the flyer I posted earlier). May Brandy be found NOW. And Paul and Laura Todd have a very sick pup, Toby. May he recover NOW. We hold our pet friends so dear to our hearts that it seems unthinkable that they should suffer or be separated from us. We think of you and send love and healing to you all.
Please keep a lookout for our Brandy as we keep Nicole in our hearts. This must be unbearable.
Hello all, Next week is a 6pm opening every night. Thanks to Courtney and Nicole, and potentially Leila, for helping. Deb NEW POLL:... https://doodle.com/poll/h63rmgxzupdyhxtb Please remember your mask and your dog.
I'm sorry I listed today's opening as 6-7am, but of course I meant 6-7PM!!! Thanks to Courtney, she will open the park tonight at 6PM.
Shout-out to three wonderful people for opening the Dog Park for the public since we were permitted to open on a monitored basis: Leila Rae Thurston, Nicole Ouellette, and Courtney LaPointe. Because of you, we have been able to open at least an hour almost every day. THANK YOU.
New Doodle poll for tomorrow, next week, and into the next weekend. Remember: mask, use sanitizer provided, clean up after your dog, only bring spayed and socialized dogs, and have a good time!
https://doodle.com/poll/4axsivmv27zgqvb6 Use only this link for this week, thanks, not the old one. It turns out Doodle can’t handle editing polls with extra dates very well so I had to create a whole new one. If anyone wants to use the park over the weekend of Aug. 22-23 they have to host it. I’m not in town, but it’s also supposed to be raining pretty hard. I can create a new Doodle poll if necessary starting next Saturday. Please email me about that ([email protected]). This poll starts tonight. A NEW poll will be created for the following week.
Hello Dog Park people, Here is the continuing schedule for next week and most of the following week. Remember to have your mask, a leash for your dog when you’re outside the fence, your own water and a dog dish, and enjoy yourselves! Deborah https://doodle.com/poll/f3qt8vnmpfwkz3p4
Hello everyone! Here is the revised poll to sign up for the remainder of this week and into the next: https://doodle.com/poll/f3qt8vnmpfwkz3p4 Tonight’s group was a blast! Please remember to bring a mask, and water + dish for yourself and your dog.... Thanks for enjoying the park responsibly. Have good evening, Deborah
Dog Park users, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: As you know, we have been closed since Feb. 14th due to Parvo virus that can spread between canines. Then came the Coronavirus in March, and the park just stayed closed. What a nightmare. We were just about to open (and thank you to the Colarusso’s, members of the Potsdam Rotary Club headed by Brandon LaShomb our Treasurer, Jay Tyson and Patti Simmons, Eric Mayer, and Leila Thurston for helping the park be physically ready to open throug...Continue reading
