In the Photo below is Lynn A Thurber who served during WWI and is buried in France. The Post was named after him for a short while before it was changed to the Concord American Legion Post 431. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Veterans Day honors all of those who have served the country in war or peace dead or alive although it's largely intended to thank living veterans for their sacrifices. It was originally called Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.

Posted by John Kucko Digital, America the Beautiful: Fabulous sight today in Groveland, NY (Livingston County) where a massive American flag has been painted,... adorned with giant poppies made of metal. The Mount Morris Genesee Valley BOCES metal trade shop created these poppies all to salute our veterans, this is the second year of doing this. It’s a wonderful display and one I highly recommend visiting along Route 63 near Hamptons Corners there. Thanks to historian Jane Schryver for looking out for me (as usual) and calling this to my attention. See more
Auxiliary members, reminder of Auxiliary meeting tonight at 7 pm at Legion.
Gone 2 years but not forgotten. You are missed Fenton Whelan
Today was a beautiful day at the Legion for our flag retirement ceremony and hotdogs and snacks. Thank you to everyone that came out. We had a total of 4 new members sign up, 5 renewals for the Legion Family. GREAT DAY! So excited. All of Legion family present and even SAL Cole and Auxiliary Jr. Lilyanna held the Legion flag.
PLEASE SHARE THIS... Please join Concord American Legion Post 431 with the Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and Boy Scout Troop 524 on Sunday September 27, 2020 at noon for a formal flag retirement ceremony. Post 431 is located at 109 Zoar Valley Rd. , Springville, behind Walmart. Following the ceremony the American Legion family will be hosting those in attendance with light refreshments including soda pop and hot dogs. The community is encouraged and welcome to attend. If anyone has flags that need to be retired please bring them to the event or you can place in the flag mailbox outside the legion hall. Leadership from BSA Troop 524, sponsored by the American Legion, will have the scout hall open for social distance gathering for any male youth who are interested in learning more about the BSA program being offered.
This is pictures from our Post 431 Legion and Auxiliary 85th Anniversary...
Here’s some old but great memories... still more to come.
Cleaning out some Auxiliary filing cabinets/paperwork and found a postcard and the front picture is our legion post 431 at the log cabin ( which is still there on S. Buffalo St.). Found wonderful pictures which I will share in a little bit.
Around 82,000 Americans remain missing from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Cold War, the Gulf War, and other conflicts. Today, National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by these military men and women.
