Connetquot Choir

Despite the challenges that this year has brought to all of us, the members of the Connetquot High School Long Island Voices continue to persevere in their musical education. Here is a sneak peak of their rehearsal of Seize the Day from Newsies. Madeleine DiGaetano, a junior, developed the choreography and led dance rehearsals from both the classroom and her backyard! The students are dancing to their own performance of the piece. Each member created a voice recording from th...e safety of her or his home and submitted it through Google Classroom. Mr. Nagle then combined and engineered the tracks to create a virtual choir performance. Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear its music ringing. It finds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing?... As we struggle with the uncertainty of how the Connetquot community will engage with music education in the near future, we wanted to continue to strengthen our connections with one another through music. During the month of July, Connetquot music department faculty and alumni joined together (virtually, of course) to create something meaningful to share. Music will always be a part of the Connetquot community, even if it looks slightly different. We hope you enjoy!

It was just announced that the CHS Concert Choir has won 2nd place in the American Prize in Choral Performance national performing arts competition! Congratulations to the Concert Choir members, past and present, whose voices earned the ensemble this honor and to the entire K-12 music faculty whose guidance led them to this prestigious award!
