Why I Paint What I Paint -
It's been a busy and rewarding art competition season. I won an award for "Catching Up," (the man on his cell phone) at the Greenwich Art Society's Flinn Gallery show and First Place in painting for "Bow Tie" at the New Rochelle Art Association's 103rd Annual Juried Show.
I'm very pleased that my painting, "Bow Tie", has been selected for Face Time, an exhibit presented by the Connecticut Society of Portrait Painters. "Bow Tie" recently won an award for Best Painting at the New Rochelle Art Association's annual member exhibit.

I took a photo of these three lovely women at a family event and used it as a reference for this acrylic painting. I liked the way their bodies are linked together and the triangular shapes. As you can see, they are engrossed in looking at photos on one of the cellphones. This is the first in a series of paintings I am creating concerning cellphones. https://conniefreid.wordpress.com/2018/01/16/girl-talk/
This painting was inspired by a photo I took of these three lovely women at a family event. I liked the way their bodies blended with each other and the triangular shapes they created. As you can see, they are engrossed in looking at photos on a cellphone. This is the first of a series of paintings I am creating about the influence of cellphones in our lives. https://conniefreid.wordpress.com/2018/01/15/girl-talk-2/
Hanging out - story behind my new painting. As I worked on it,some of the colors changed from warm to cool. I hope I did justice to the subject.
"Blue Skies" is a painting that I recently created of (and for) Laura and Page, the wonderful parents of our grand-sons, Henry and Charlie.
In March, a fire destroyed my art studio and 20 years' worth of my paintings. Among the few that I managed to save are these of #refugee #children. You can see more of my recent work at www.conniefreid.com.

They were among my most recent work and serve as a reminder of those far less fortunate than me. https://conniefreid.wordpress.com//paintings-of-refugee-c/
