A thin coat of Ice has covered the trees for quite some days. I am not certain of the long term effects of ice on trees but, as long as the coat is thin and do...es not weigh down the tree that all is good and that perhaps the extra layer acts as a blanket of sorts against weather extremes. We have a good supply of Pastured, Mother's Milk fed veal this week. Two beautiful bull calves around 400 lbs each made the grade this week. Christina will be cutting chops, roasts, racks and more. We do all our own processing on farm producing true farmstead quality meats. Our veal is robust in aroma and flavor. And, there is no flabby texture. Rather, the meat is firm yet tender. One can be assured that we raised the veal with the utmost of care and that ethics always matter at Gaia's Breath Farm. If you didn't eat veal due to ethical reasons, then, we have removed your bonds. Ever want to come take a look? Give us a call for a visit. One of the main preps used in biodynamics is horn manure. Fresh Cow manure is packed into cow horns in the Fall and left to age/energize over the Winter. I have no idea how various astronomical events would effect the material but, the past conjunction and even dual solar flares coming out of the sun, some physiological effect must occur. On a more basic level the horn manure is becoming a home to colonies of bacteria, fungus, etc. It is or rather will become a sort of pro-biotic for the soil this coming growing season. Susan will be at Market on December 12th and 19th, with a variety of beautiful beeswax candles, featuring holiday styles, including bayberry taper and votive candles. Burning bayberry/beeswax candles is a tradition for many at holiday time and something Susan's customers await each year. Bayberry wax is extracted from the tiny berries of the myrtle bush that grows up and down the Eastern seaboard. It takes 8...0 pounds of these tiny berries to produce one pound of this exquisite wax! It has the scent of newly mown hay. The tradition is to burn a bayberry candle all the way down on either Christmas or New Year’s Eve to bring good luck for the New Year.
