While the trees are taking a break during the important chill time of winter, the work of our orchards team continues throughout the year. We started pruning the trees in preparation for another successful growing season, ready to support a variety of research and teaching projects.

Our apples are almost sold out for the season. Remaining supplies are currently still available at the P&C Fresh in Ithaca (315 Pine Tree Road). To all of our local customers: we hope you enjoyed our apples this year and we would like to thank you for your continued support! Here’s to a great growing season in 2021, and a happy and healthy new year!

Cornell Orchards has been donating apples to the Friendship Donations Network for more than 10 years. In 2020, the orchards have been contributing 200 to 400 pounds a week, in addition to monthly donations to the nearby Newfield Kitchen Cupboard. When the pandemic closed schools in the spring, the orchards provided 14,000 pounds of apples to help local school districts continue serving meals to families in need.
