Sometimes the best morning musings arrive in the afternoon, but I'll leave that to you. Monday morning, first day of Women’s History Month, begins with a whiff of coffee, and thoughts of Maya Angelou. Aroma hit me different today. Four feet away, yet like I’m hovering over the cup. Been said, there is a connection between smell and memory. The smell of coffee, brought forth a rush of memories, this Monday Musing Morning. Most vivid, Grandma, whom we called Mama. Smell...Continue reading

Please allow me to share a rare Tuesday morning "pastoral" musing. While strolling around in my mind, I ran across this election Day Psalm written by David, as he cast his vote long, long ago. The Lord is my shepherd, (PREFERRED CANDIDATE) I shall not want. (ECONOMIC POLICY) He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; (HOUING POLICY) he restores my soul. (HEALTH CARE POLICY) He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake. (EDUCATION POLICY) ...Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. (POLICING POLICY) You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; (MILITARY POLICY) you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. (HOMELAND SECURITY) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. (PULL THE LEVER) Let go of unnecessary anxiety, and let your joy be complete.. Have a blessed day.

Hello Saints. I would have finished this morning, but somehow afternoon and evening came and "being a muser ain't easy." Although, we must constantly strive for justice in our world, because like time did today, justice will not roll in on the "wheels of inevitability." So VOTE. "Our" musing follows:. I lift up my eyes to the hills from whence will my musings come? My musings come from the Lord, who made heaven and earthThe Lord will keep your musings going out and yo...Continue reading

Monday Morning Musing Thoughts on living out faith in Day and Community. Job was fine when it was only between, he and God. The accolades came in, blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil. Aren’t we all? Maybe that’s why I especially like my relationship with God early in the morning before Day and Community has its say. Before they emerge, ‘it’s Just You and me God.’ I ask, Everything alright God? God answers, ALRIGHT!!! WITH A VERILY O...Continue reading

Monday Morning Musings, Awakened by the sound of 4:00 am rain drops. Believing I had to do something, felt a surge of energy. I begin many Monday mornings with a Spirit of Musing. Tried to channel that Spirit. But even the Spirit needs a good night’s sleep. Figured a cup of Blue Mountain coffee might help in the search. I turned on the Keurig. Sat in the darkness waiting for the ready light to come on. Sleep took over, the next thing I knew it was 9:30 am, the rea...Continue reading

GIVING We encourage giving as an act of worship. WHY GIVING? TAKING THE STEP OF FAITH... When you participate in online giving, you decide in advance to faithfully give. God always blesses that kind of faith! SIMPLIFYING YOUR LIFE Online giving is simple, easy, and also reduces post office trips, postage costs and weekly/monthly check-writing chores. HELPING THE CHURCH TO SERVE OTHERS When you participate in online giving, you’re also helping to streamline administrative overhead costs thus, putting more of your dollars to work in the ministries. Give in order to be blessed. It is, in our vision, a part of our worship to God. He wants us to understand the blessings that come to those who give with a cheerful heart. Testimonial Cornell A. Good morning, I pray you all had some good ‘Sunday sleep.’ I sure did. Sunday usually begins for me about 5:00 AM, so by 7:00 PM, I feel sleep owes me a debt I want fully repaid. After a night of ‘Sunday sleep,’ I awakened to thoughts which occupied the night, and the long version of the acapella sounds of Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers singing, Nearer My God To Thee. (https://youtu.be/aXt-I2bIdZE) Monday mornings are special, because Lord’s day service doesn’t end for m...e until I awaken from Sunday sleep.’ Maybe it extends so long after the spoken benediction because I’m waiting to hear the Lord’s answer to my Sunday prayer. Each time before launching into a message, I pray my ultimate hope, which is to be a transparent vessel of God. You’ve probably heard me pray, ‘Lord allow me to decrease as Your word increases and may Your Word be the only word heard throughout this sanctuary, and (from Psalm 19), may the words of my lips and the meditations of our hearts be worthy and pleasing in Your sight.’ I’ve said it so often I don’t realize I’m saying it again. Then, yes THEN, unexpectedly, this message came in from Garrett Hacking before Sunday sleep took over. Been in a kind of zone all day. Love it. Each week I am elevated in my relationship with God. Because of His vessel. What a blessing to take with me into ‘Sunday sleep,’ then awaken to the sounds of Sam Cooke and the Soul Stirrers. Wow, relationship with God. Isn’t that the essence of our Lord’s Day worship and praise. In Mark 17:12, Jesus said, render unto Caesar, what belongs to Caesar, and render unto God, what belongs to God. God is clear that our Sunday rendering should be worship and praise. Remember that the Sabbath Day belongs to Me. (Exodus 20:8 CEV). Our waking and our sleeping, especially on that day, belongs to God. Maybe the zone of which Garrett spoke was because God received our renderings and drew nearer. Once all was said and done in service, did you feel like an athlete, who left it all on the field? Ohhhhh, the minister was preaching; And the crowd was standing near; The congregation was singing a tune; In a voice that was loud and clear; You know the crowd that stood around him; They were crying, I could plainly see; For the song that they sang was touching; They were singing, 'Nearer My God To Thee' Ohhhh, nearer my God to Thee, nearer, nearer my God toooo Thee; We kept on singing, nearer my God, nearer my God to Thee; Oh Lord, we kept on singing nearer; Nearer my God, nearer, nearer to Thee; They kept on singing, nearer my, my God, nearer my God to Thee; Oh yes, nearer, nearer, nearer my Godddd to Thee My musing leads me to believe God heard my Lord’s Day prayer. Allowed me to decrease and God’s word to take over. If you too found the zone, like Garett, then let’s keep on singing, ‘nearer my, my God to Thee, nearer my God to Thee; Oh yes, I keep on singing nearer my God to Thee.’ Cornell
