Yesterday Randy and Beth Crawford attended the re-dedication of the restored historic Onondaga limestone church tower at Grace Episcopal Church in Syracuse. The church was designed by noted Syracuse architect Horatio Nelson White in 1876. The church held a socially distanced church service in the memorial garden and a processional around the church. #historicrestoration #EPFgrant #nysoprhp #thisiswhatwedo

We provided the contract documents and preservation expertise for the restoration of the three historic buildings... the Erie House, Mule Barn, And Blacksmith Shop. What makes it great? Preservation of Authentic Historic Resources. Years of perseverance, fundraising, and sweat equity provided by the Canal Society of New York State are behind ...every facet of the Park. Visitors begin at the park’s visitor center, where displays of historic canal objects and an 1893 large-scale lock model orient them to the site. They are then invited to walk through the massive stone structure of Lock 52, built in 1853, and tour the restored 1894 Erie House Tavern & Hotel, mule barn and blacksmith shop. Interpretive signs and volunteers share information and stories about the 19th century waterway. See more

Even while we social distance .... Crawford & Stearns is working on an assessment report for the Chapel at Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse. Randy Crawford recently visited to review existing conditions, deterioration, and photograph the National Register listed Onondaga limestone 1879 Joseph Lyman Silsbee designed mortuary chapel.

Researching for the Gustav Stickley House! Great photos received today from a woman who lived there 60 years ago!

Randy Crawford traveled to Albany on Wednesday and accepted this award from New York State OPRHP for the "outstanding adaptive reuse" of the Marshall D. Bice House in Schoharie, NY. The fabulous Italinate style 1868 brick house was damaged in flooding in 2011 during Hurricane Irene! The owner, Dr. Hazem Elbialy DDS, has renovated the house for use by his dental office and utilized the State and Federal historic rehabilitation tax credit available for National register listed buildings undergoing rehabilitation. Congrats to Dr. Elbialy.
