What a mess!! This started with the Fed-Ex driver who thought he was a DEA Agent. After Vermont Cops told him it was not marijuana and in fact HEMP (100% Legal), they sent him on his way for delivery in Brooklyn. Seems as though that as soon as the Fed-Ex truck arrived at it's facility in East NY, the NYPD was called. Well, the keystone NYPD cops who arrived decided on their own with absolutely no investigation that it was in fact marijuana and had a major drug bust on th...eir hands. Even after being told by the recipient of the Hemp, the Farm that produced the Hemp, the Williston Vermont PD, packaging labels and documentation in the 9 boxes declaring it to be Hemp and not marijuana, NYPD Officer Rodney Greenidge still made the arrest (without calling the DEA or any narcotics unit within the NYPD). Then the Brooklyn's DA's Office ECAB Unit decided to go with the cops word even though a Deputy Bureau Chief of the unit was told to fully investigate the matter before filing charges, but that fell on deaf ears as well. Mr. Levy (after spending over 24 hours in custody) was finally released on his own recognizance and the matter was adjourned to another date.
