Throughout the changes this year has brought, we’ve been continually inspired by our community’s creativity and resolve. We want to send our love, support and appreciation to all of this year’s #RCR bars, restaurants, brands, cocktail fans, and especially to all of the bartenders and hospitality workers who have worked so hard to innovate and serve others throughout an unbelievably c...hallenging year. Thanks to each and every one of you for making our Rochester cocktail community a beautiful place to call home. . We were thrilled and honored to have our ice work included in the @brookleacountryclub men’s invitational celebration last weekend! Our sincere gratitude goes to barman extraordinaire @michaeldisano for having us along. . Brook-Lea Country Club’s championship golf course was designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and continues to be regarded as one of the finest tests of golf in Upsate New York. . It’s our pleasure to be standing in the shadow of such a long-standing tradition! @ Rochester, New York

When you’re handling ice, it helps to have great tools. We’ve grown particularly attached to these stainless Talon Tongs from @cocktailkingdom. They’re beautiful, sturdy and they have a wider mouth than most alternatives that we’ve seen. That’s especially helpful when delicately placing one of our Cristallino diamond rocks into your glass. . (These ice tongs also happen to look almost exactly like the ones my folks used to have in their home bar when I was growing up. So, all the feels). . We got ours at @barmecca. You can, too!

Finally, it’s Saturday night! It’s been a loooong week and we can’t wait to relax. We’re starting with an Old Fashioned served on one of our classic 2x2x2.5 crystal clear cocktail cubes. Started the day off by making some Harlequin ice. . Whenever we create this pattern I’m reminded of the harlequin character portrayed in commedia dell'arte. . This design represents the costume worn by the harlequin, or the clown, originally sewn together from rags into a pattern of diamonds.... . The juxtaposition of this pattern’s humble, clownish origins with it’s beautiful elegance in ice always brings a big smile to my face. That’s what Harlequins do! See more

We had the opportunity to hand cut some of our crystal clear cocktail ice with @cocktailkingdom’s new Overlord Nakiri knife this morning and it was awesome! . Sporting a 6.8 blade, the Overlord is hefty, well-balanced and feels good in your hand. Most importantly, the knife easily brought us the results we were looking for: perfectly square lines and uniquely beautiful, hand cut cubes. . Now, time to find this gem a glass to call home!

Hey strangers, (and ice people)! At Cristallino, we’ve been staying active irl by keeping safe, wearing our masks, listening to and striving to support our community, and uncovering some brand new ways to enjoy the Rochester summer! . With so many spring 2020 weddings having been postponed, we’ve received an increased number of inquiries to provide ice for fall 2020 and spring 2021 weddings, (both for sculpture and for cocktail ice), so we wanted to share a tiny peek at some of our bridal work that we’d hoped to show earlier this spring.
