Check out the virtual tour of our current exhibition, Stephanie Wilde: Windows. Over the course of four decades, Stephanie Wilde has made a name for herself with works of ornate and detailed imagery that make pointed statements about the world around us. Wilde is a seeker of the rarefied moments in which the visual arts transfigure facts, figures, and political rhetoric to make of them universal statements that appeal to the senses, emotion, and logic. You can also book your appointment to view the exhibition on site from Tue to Friday, 10AM-6PM at www.crossingart.com

Crossing Art’s fourth artist at West Bund is Swiss-born multimedia artist Katja Loher. Best known for her sculptural forms and Videosculptures, Loher addresses ecological concerns and urgencies with each multicolored work. Extremely detailed in nature, her pieces explore topics such as the plight of pollination, problems with technology and the future of humanity, while still bringing to light the beauty of natural processes. Using the seamless fusion of technology and... nature, Loher has created a magical imaginary space in the digital world for her audiences to step into. Katja Loher, Which Bird Fills the Nest (2019). Multi-channel video with sound, 7:20 min. #westbund #artfair #shanghai #video #nature #environment #sculpture #artwork #crossingart #fairs #bird #nest

Thank you to everyone who came to our first-ever virtual art talk! Stephanie Wilde joined us on Zoom to talk about her Windows exhibition currently on display at Crossing Art. Wilde discussed the main themes of her work, which address contemporary issues like the polarization of race, religion and political views in society, as well as the impending effects of climate change. Now, more than ever, we must come together to survive. The talk was followed by a spectacular... and moving performance by New York-based professional dancer and choreographer Cara Diaz. Her dance was inspired by one of the pieces in Wilde’s The Golden Bee series. Book your appointment to view Windows from now until the end of this month through our website! #arttalk #artist #virtual #crossingart #artwork #gallery #events #newyork #dance

We’re halfway through! Our third artist at West Bund is leading international ink artist Qin Feng. As one of the foremost representatives of China’s avant-garde movement, Feng blends elements of Western abstract expressionism with Chinese ink painting. Since studying mural painting at Shangdong University of Art and Design in the early 1980s, Feng has been radically experimenting with contemporary styles. Bold brushstrokes and plays on positive and negative space characte...rize his work. His paintings are at once explosive and emotional, referencing motion and time. Feng utilizes tea, representing the East, and coffee, the West, as materials to further explore the concept of cultural contrast in an attempt to bring the two together. The second artist Crossing Art is featuring at West Bund is Yuan Daxi. Daxi’s attitude towards art and experimentation aligns with ancient Confucian ideals that a scholar should obtain holistic abilities and cultivate spirituality. His paintings are composed in an abstract style, with graceful curves resembling strokes of Chinese calligraphy. Both sculptural and painterly, the works serve as mirrors that reflect the artist’s trascendent journey and exploration of the human s...ubconscious. In his new Rhapsody Series, Daxi aims to turn music into a visual expression of space. While he works, he listens to Mahler’s symphonies and Beethoven’s string quintets. The resulting works embody this auditory and sensory experience, which attempt to capture the visual and spatial in an organic composition. Yuan Daxi, Rhapsody Series, 2020. Oil on canvas. #westbund #artfairs #yuandaxi #painting #artwork #crossingart #gallery #shanghai

Crossing Art is pleased to announce its participation in this year’s West Bund Art & Design fair in Shanghai. The art fair presents modern and contemporary art from leading galleries around the globe, giving audiences a chance to experience the collections of international exhibitors. We will be introducing all six of our exhibited artists before West Bund officially launches on November 11. Our first highlight focuses on Shen Jingdong. Jingdong’s emergence in the early 2000s... marked an important moment for Chinese Contemporary Art. Born in 1965 in the town of Nanjing, Jingdong was conscripted to the Military Drama Troupe of Nanjing Military Area. His work showcases this personal experience, as he blends military elements with a bold pop art style. The innocent yet cartoon-like characters in his work are derived from popular culture and daily life, bringing a sense of familiarity to the public. Shen Jingdong, Freeze, 2020. Oil on canvas. #crossingart #westbund #artfairs #shanghai #art #design #painting #military #mask #exhibition #gallery

It’s that time of year again! Get into the Halloween spirit with a look at Stephanie Wilde’s The Bones are the Same. Equally beautiful and haunting, the installation of 12 images gives a closer look at Wilde’s universal statements that deal with themes of shared humanity and individual dignity. In this piece, Wilde represents different religions and faiths, such as Christianity, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism. Each skeleton is depicted clinging onto these spherical symbols of... their faith. The Bones are the Same illustrates how we let our beliefs define our identities, although we’re all one species underneath the surface of it all. Stephanie Wilde, The Bones are the Same, 2017. Installation of 12 images. Ink, acrylic, and gold leaf in paper. On view at Crossing Art Gallery through November 13. #crossingartgallery #halloween #skeletons #artwork #soloexhibition #religion #manhattan

Watch our new interview with interdisciplinary Peruvian-American artist Grimanesa Amorós! Crossing Art sat down with Amorós in her Tribeca studio to talk about the inspiration behind her works and her upcoming projects. Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Amorós uses lighting, video, and sculpture to create immersive works that play with form and function. Her installations have been exhibited in Beijing, Mexico, New York's Times Square and elsewhere. Amorós’ site-specific works r...ange from large-scale permanent structures to temporary light installations. She cites a trip to Iceland in the early 2000s as the main reason she started working with light. I couldn’t sleep...and I saw these skies illuminated by these unbelievable, amazing colors. I was so mesmerized. I thought immediately: if only I could share this with others, wouldn’t that be wonderful? #grimanesaamoros #artist #interview #crossingart #gallery #exclusive #chelsea #manhattan #newyork #peru #light #installations #artwork
