We've been water monitoring since 1992! Today, we test 21 water stations throughout the harbor as well as monitoring at key shoreline outfalls for bacteria and nitrogen. Our data is shared with key environmental partners and has led to important improvements in our harbor and it's wildlife residents! -- We are getting closer to our goal! There have been recent reports of dead bunker washing up on our local beaches. This coincides with the large presence of bunker in Hempstead Harbor and other bays. Although we don’t know the cause yet, we are as always remaining vigilant and working to keep the harbor safe for all wildlife--even through a pandemic! We’ll update you as we learn more.
