Santa riding fire truck around town. No parade this year. Coming to a street near you!

Cuba, NY 26.11.2020

While we can't hold our Annual gathering for Santa's arrival, we can bring Santa down the streets! Below is a map for this Saturday, as the Cuba Fire Department... is helping Santa explore Cuba! Starting at 6pm, leaving the Cuba Fire Department, Santa will be riding on the back of a Fire Truck, for all to see his arrival and inspection of all the wonderful people and all that our Small Town has to offer! Bring your little ones to see Santa along this route. We would like to encourage safe social distancing and wearing a mask when in the vicinity of others! Stay safe everyone, and Happy Holidays! Please share this post!

At the September 14, 2020 Village of Cuba Board Meeting- Mayor Miller set tentative Halloween Trick-or-Treat hours for 10/31/2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to... houses with lights on, proper face coverings, and social distancing in place. The goal is a safe and fun night for all participants. Some Halloween Celebration Guidelines during COVID-19 Trick-or-Treating events from the Health Department are listed below- with a need to incorporate social distancing, masking, and proper handwashing, as well as adherence to event size limitations. As a reminder, anyone who thinks they could have COVID-19 or may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, they should not participate in in-person Halloween festivities and should not give out candy to trick-or-treaters. Sometimes people are unaware they have contracted Covid-19 due to being asymptomatic. Individuals at increased risk for severe illness should not attend in-person Halloween gatherings. Neighborhood trick-or-treating 1. Anyone distributing candy or treats should wash their hands properly for at least 20 seconds before distributing the candy and when replenishing. 2. All individuals participating in trick-or-treating, including those passing out candy should maintain social distance of least 6 feet and wear proper face coverings . A costume mask, such as those worn for Halloween, is not a substitute for a face covering. If face coverings are worn under costume masks, please ensure this does not create breathing problems, and if so, discard the costume mask. 3. Household members should trick-or-treat together, and they should maintain 6-feet social distance from other trick-or-treaters at all times. Mixed household trick-or-treaters are discouraged. 4. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer should be carried and used as necessary. 5. Candy collected during trick-or-treating should not be consumed until after handwashing. As always, a parent/guardian should check all candy to make sure it is wrapped and should discard unwrapped candy. 6. Outdoor areas are preferred for trick-or-treating. Enclosed indoor areas, like apartment buildings, present greater risk of COVID-19 transmission. Open doors and windows as appropriate to promote increased ventilation. **Reminder** Please use past practices of "Being seen" Carry a flashlight, glowsticks, or wear reflective clothing to assist in a safe night for all.

From the Village... Trick or Treating is still on for this year as of now. Only to houses with lights on and kids as well as parents are encouraged to wear a mask and socially distance since the streets get congested. If the governor says people can't, then they will change it. ***** Also, see below share from the Old Grey Hound.

Note. Low water pressure may be noticed.

:) *IMPORTANT NOTICE TO VILLAGE OF CUBA, NY WATER CUSTOMERS* :) When our reservoir tank was last inspected, they told us that when the next inspection was due, ...we would need to totally drain the tank in order to replace the "cathodic protection system". (That is the system that keeps the inside of the tank in great shape.) So, this is the year that we need to get this work completed. We will begin to slowly drain the reservoir on Friday October 2nd through Sunday October 4th. You may experience a decrease in water pressure on these two days. Once the reservoir is "offline" the well pump will get regular pressure (or close to) back to everyone until the work at the reservoir is complete and is ready to be put back in service. The work at the reservoir should be completed and the reservoir back "online" by Thursday October 8th at the latest. DPW Superintendent Hall greatly appreciates everyone's patience during this time, and we will work just as quickly and efficiently as possible to get the work completed. If anyone should have any questions regarding this work, please feel free to call the DPW office at 585-968-2487. Please share this post so we can get the word out! Thank you!

The Cuba Circulating Library presents StoryWalk told on plastic sign board placed on both sides of the Cuba section of the Genesee Valley Greenway from the Bull Street entrance to the bridge and back totaling a half mile walk. According to the developer, Anne Ferguson, StoryWalk combines family fun and exercise. "Reading books helps your brain grow and stay active in the same way as exercising helps the rest of your body." So on September 24th and 25th follow StoryWalk's path on the Greenway to stimulate your child's brain and get exercise. Many thanks to Cherilyn Wise, Youth Coordinator at the library, for arranging this activity on the Cuba Greenway.

Does anyone remember the O'Malley's Hardware store at 21 East Main Street? I heard it opened on March 19, 1937 and closed in the 70's. If anyone has any anecdotes, that would be appreciated! Thanks!
