When I say movement is medicine, this is what I'm talking about. Feeding the body oxygen and blood, blessing the joints with synovial fluid, connecting the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. It makes you feel alive, and it's free! Movement does not have to be complicated, done with weight, or on a yoga mat. You don't even have to put a title to it. Just step outside and take some slow and controlled breaths while moving your body in ways that feel good to YOU!. You won't regret it! @vivobarefoot @andyjackson549

#Repost @syracuse_fitness_center Little Ninjas Private Training Start them young, and start them right! Did you know that we have been training children from the ages of 8 to 18 for the past 5 years? We help them with their physical strength and mental fortitude. We challenge them with a patient, educated approach, and we have a lot of fun in the process! Our kids program helps build strength and confidence through skills like running, jumping, climbing, swinging, squa...tting, pushing and pulling. It is less like a personal trainer to client relationship and is much more like a mentor program. Patrick is a role model, he teaches lessons that are valuable in and outside of the gym or sport. Contact us to get your little ninja started this fall! Our little ninja, Alfred has become a master at swinging over the past few weeks. He loves the rings and the ropes, he works hard and gives his all when he's at The Syracuse Fitness Center. Great job, Alfred!

This is one of those exercises that a former athlete does and kicks themselves for not knowing about it during their playing days. This is the exercise that the long time gym buff does and says, ohhh yaaaa this is exactly what I need to be doing. This is the exercise that the person who doesn't work out but wants to feel better does and falls in love with movement. I made this video because this is a simple exercise that everyone should be doing, and I mean everyone! I've le...arned these being referred to as chalk circles or half snow angels. They are the perfect warm up drill and can also be used as an injury prevention exercise. It is important to move the shoulder joints through this range of motion without stress in order to maintain strength and stability in a more dynamic environment. Make sure to go in both directions, and do this on both arms. 3-5 reps on each arm in each direction is a good warm up. I'm pretty sure that until the day my grandma died she talked about cleaning these floors on her hands and knees since she lived in that house. I'm grateful to be able to make her house my home, but there's no way in hell I'm going to clean these floors on my hands and knees!! I'm going to clean them in a low squat In all seriousness, this is how mobility carries over to every day life. These are the type of physical characteristics that make a difference in your day to day routine. How much you lift or how long you can hold a handstand is a great challenge to stimulate our competitive edge. But this right here, this is why I train smart, this is why I take care of my body. I am going to be comfortable in this body as long as I am it's pilot. Movement is medicine! www.syracusefitnesscenter.com

Today I finished my workout with a nice little circuit to get my heart rate up and break a little more of a sweat. I am a huge fan of cardio after strength training, it burns more fat and boosts your metabolism to help burn calories well after your workout, not just during. Join me for my Syracuse Calisthenics Bootcamp class Tuesday through Thursday at the @syracuse_fitness_center from 9:30-10:30. Right now I am offering a special, new students get a free class when they sign... up for their first class at Syracuse Fitness Center. A single class is $20 but I offer multi class punch cards making these classes the most affordable fitness classes around. Visit www.syracusefitnesscenter.com to view our full schedule and sign up for your class of choice. New student special is valid for all group classes. As always, wearing only the best footwear in my workouts, @vivobarefoot @andyjackson549
