A little epoxy at one end and these sliding dovetails should hopefully hold tight for a long time, allowing the doors to expand and contract with the seasons while still holding them flat.

One over engineered little nightstand, made during my time at @woodschoolmaine in the winter of 2018/19. The video was shot and edited by the exceedingly talented and awesome @portermcknight. Song: More by Nils Frahm In an effort to learn and cram as many new furniture making techniques as possible in one small case-piece project that would fit into my car, this nightstand got it all: solid beech wood with through dovetails, half blind dovetails, sliding dovetails, housed mo...rtise and tenons, double tenons, solid frame and panel, a traditionally(ish) fit dovetail pencil drawer, a rotating drawer with a radial book matched shop sawn veneered drawer bottom and a bent lamination quarter round back wall, a knife hinged frame and panel door with integrated bookshelf, a coopered and cove cut adjustable height dimmable lamp / water glass shelf all atop a compound mitered base. I managed to create a thing that would cost way too much to ever try to sell or reproduce, but it sure was fun to figure out how to make and I bet you’ll never see anything else quite like it. #cushdesignstudio See more
