Dear CUTKD community, We hope that you are holding up alright during this difficult time of a global pandemic and the recent, but not unprecedented acts of police brutality. CUTKD acknowledges and condemns the deeply violent history of systemic anti-Black racism in the United States and those who actively or silently enable white supremacist systems with their complacency. I am writing on behalf of our CUTKD board to affirm that we stand in solidarity with those who are spea...king out and taking action against continued acts of police brutality, white supremacy, and systematic racism. We grieve the losses of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Garner, Treyvon Martin, Tamir Rice, Stephon Clark, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Dominique Clayton, Bettie Jones, Atatiana Jefferson, Botham Jean, Walter Scott, and too many others who have been brutally killed. Our hearts ache for all the victims, their families, and Black communities who have been suffering the trauma of institutionalized racism for far too long. CUTKD recognizes that not all members of our community are financially able to donate, however, we encourage the members of our community to take action during this time. Participate in protests that are happening across the country if you're able to, support Black-owned businesses, sign petitions, write to and call elected officials, have those difficult conversations, educate yourself and those around you and reflect upon your privilege. We can all take part in this movement, we must use our voices and our privilege to help in any way we are able. We must not be neutral in situations of injustice. We encourage our members to use some of the informative resources we have linked below to raise their voices, educate themselves about structures and injustices, and take on our common responsibility to dismantle systems of oppression.
