Cronomer Valley Fire Department has been approved to escort Santa on a pre-plan run to wave to the children in select neighborhoods. If you wish to see him, he will be doing a practice drill on the route seen here. Remember to practice social distancing and wear your mask if you are out on the street! He will not be collecting food or toys, so bring them to a local pantry instead! Have a Merry Christmas to all from CVFD!

At 13:24 hrs July 8, 2020 while operating at a standby for the Winona Lake who was operating at a 2nd alarm house fire, the Cronomer Valley Fire Department was dispatched to a sinking car with occupants still in vehicle at Rt 9W and North Plank Rd. While enroute, 911 advised incoming units one of the occupants a handicapped male was low on oxygen in the vehicle. Crews donned dry suits and tag lines while members came up with a plan of attack. Working closely with the Middleh...ope Fire Department whose rig was used as an anchor point members made their way to the vehicle to find two occupants still in the vehicle. Our members assisted the occupants out of the water and brought them to an awaiting Town of Newburgh EMS Ambulance. Town of Newburgh PD, NYS DOT and NYS Police were assisted by CVFD Firepolice to control traffic. Complications arose with a nearby gasoline tanker was off loading fuel as waters flooded the area. Fortunately no fuel was leaked and water was kept out of tank. While operating at this rescue Cronomer Valley assisted with another water rescue at the corner of Meadow St and Powelton Rd with a submerged vehicle with an occupant. At this time multiple other calls continued to come in. Cronomer Valley firefighters mitigated all storm related calls by 17:30 hrs and returned to service. In total for the day Cronomer Valley Fire Dept ran 11 calls. A great job goes out to our members who put their training to work and worked in unison with the the Middlehope and Plattekill Fire Depts.
