Look at this amazing #davinciforblacklives submission from Carolyn Dokey My friend and I painted this in our neighborhood, and raised $200 for the Marsha P. Johnson Institute. Marsha P. Johnson was an activist, self-identified drag queen, performer, and survivor. She was a prominent figure in the Stonewall uprising of 1969. Marsha went by Black Marsha before settling on Marsha P. Johnson. The P stood for Pay It No Mind, which is what Marsha would say in response to questions about her gender. It is the consideration of who Black Marsha was that inspired The Marsha P. OUR FIRST STUDENT SUBMISSION COMES FROM FRESHMAN, EMERY HLUBIN. I show commitment to racial and economic justice by joining walks with people in my neighborhood. Around my neighborhood there is a school and people meet up there and walk around with posters and stuff. I also put signs up saying Black Lives Matter. Another thing that me and my friends did last year for school is for some of our classes we went outside and walked around the streets with posters saying Black Lives Matter and all lives matter. #davinciforblacklives
