Today was an incredible day to be an Eagle thanks to the huge hearts of our community partners! Every elementary student brought home two gifts today as par...t of a sweet holiday surprise. The Capital Region Toys for Tots coordinated with our School Resource Officer Eric Reyell and the Schenectady County Sheriff's Department to distribute 1,000 gifts to our students. The Delanson Volunteer Fire Department and the Quaker Street Volunteer Fire Department also supported the effort. Thank you for spreading holiday cheer at DCS!! We are so grateful!!! We can’t stop smiling!!!! #EaglePride See more

Schoharie County declared a State of Emergency due to the intense snowfall causing roadways to be dangerous. All County offices will be closed today and appoin...tments will be rescheduled. Please stay home if you are able, but if you must travel, use caution and allow for extra time to reach your destination! Whenever we declare a state of emergency due to snow, we always get asked a bunch of questions. If your employer is requiring you to work, does the State of Emergency mean you don't have to go? Going to work is considered necessary travel, and therefore allowed. Talk to your employer and see if they might allow you to take a personal day. If you are caretaker for a sick/elderly friend or family member (or if it's your job) your travel is considered necessary. Please allow for extra time, drive slow and be careful! The State of Emergency does not CLOSE roads - it tells everyone that the DPW crews are working their hardest to keep the roads clear, but the snowfall rate is making roads dangerous and crews cannot keep them totally clear. Please have patience, as they are doing the best they can!
