Delaware Valley Garden Club

The Delaware Valley Garden Club published its own collection of recipes in book format. The contributors were all from the area. The book was published in 1984. We like to share some of the recipes. Here's one. Squash and Apple Bake by Ethel McNany 2 lb butternut squash... 1/4 c butter or margarine 1/2 t mace or cinnamon 2 baking apples, cut into 1/2 inch slices 1/2 c brown sugar 1 T flour Heat oven to 350. Cut squash in half. Remove seeds and fiber. Pare squash and cut into 1/2 inch slices. Stir together the remaining ingredients except apples. Arrange squash in ungreased baking dish. Top with apples. Spring sugar mixture over it. Cover with foil and bake for 50-60 minutes at 350 until squash is tender.

The blog features delicious recipes based on what is in season. My secret garden this year is planted in all white flowers in the style of a moon garden. It is something I have always wanted to do and I am very excited about it. I will post a picture when it is completed. What is new in your garden this year?
