I am pleased to once again notify you of an exciting opportunity available to local 11th-grade students. Annually, the Delaware County Electric Cooperative (DCEC), sponsors a Legislative Youth Tour providing a selected youth-delegate the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to meet with our nations political leaders and learn about our Nation’s legislative process. This year the tour will take place from Sunday, April 18, 2021 to Wednesday, April 21, 2021. Students inte...rested in being considered for this event must complete the below application and have it submitted to the office of the Delaware County Electric Cooperative by the end-of-the-day on February 8, 2021. Applications can either be sent by regular mail or emailed to: [email protected]. Once applications are submitted there will be an interview conducted by the Board at the February 23rd Board Meeting. http://dce.coop//dcec//PDF/youth_tour_application_2021.pdf Please be aware that DCEC is closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and continues to prioritize the health and safety of our members, staff and event participants. Local, state and national orders, recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization, travel industry guidance plus the number of participants and where they are coming from all inform our decisions regarding DCEC events. We are exploring options for rescheduling or offering virtual options for any canceled in-person events where such alternatives may make sense.

In order to make the necessary repair, a short planned outage in that same area will be happening very soon. The board of directors of the Delaware County Electric Cooperative has announced their plan to appoint Millie Faulkner, longtime Finance Manager of the Cooperative, to fill the role of Interim CEO/General Manager effective November 27, 2020. As previously announced, current CEO, Mark Schneider, will be leaving the Cooperative on November 27, 2020 to take a new job at the Cooperative Finance Corporation. The board is evaluating candidates for a permanent appointment to the CEO position, and Mrs. Faulkner’s appointment as Interim CEO will give the board of directors the time it needs to hire the best possible candidate to fill the vacancy permanently. Mrs. Faulkner said, I am honored to be asked to fill this important role. I have absolute confidence in all the Cooperative’s staff to continue to be exceptional in all their roles.
