At shortly after 11pm last evening, the Delhi Fire Department was dispatched to Eveden Tower on the SUNY campus for a smoke condition on the 7th floor. Fearing the worst, Delhi requested ladder trucks from Walton and Oneonta as well as engines and manpower from Bovina and Bloomville. After a thorough investigation, the cause of the smoke was found to be a seized blower motor inside a heating unit. We would like to extend our thanks to Walton, Oneonta, Bovina, and Bloomville for their expeditious responses under horrible weather and road conditions.

Please monitor this Christmas Eve storm carefully. Take some time to make a plan right now. Think about how to prepare your property for a rapid snow melt with ...rain and wind on top of it for Thursday afternoon. Clear off storm drains and open up snow dams if you have created them. Low lying areas are highly likely to get standing water. The amount of rain we get, how much snow pack we lose, and the timing of the re-freeze on Friday will dictate all the outcomes.
