GUILDERLAND Ann E. Towers, 95, of Malpass Road, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb.26th, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Dec. 25, 1925 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anita (Faleni) Esmond. Ann graduated from Corinth High School in 1943 and from the University of Rochester with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 1947. Ann was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during WWII, and became a registered nurse in NYS. Sh...e married Loyal M. Towers on April 19, 1952 at Immaculate Conception Church in Corinth and the couple resided in Guilderland for many years. He passed away Nov. 28, 2020 following 68 years of marriage. Ann was employed as a registered nurse at Mt. McGregor Hospital in Wilton and in later years, at the Capital District Psychiatric Center. Ann also dabbled in real estate for several years with Bob Howard Realty. She loved playing bridge, spending winters in Florida with her husband, and visits with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Tom Towers (Patti) of Traverse City, MI, Dave Towers of Syracuse, Richard Dick Towers of Guilderland; two daughters, Melissa Kirchberg (Tim) of San Diego, CA and Sue Fiorito of Altamont; six grandsons, Steven Kirchberg (Allyson) of San Diego and Jordan Kirchberg of Los Angeles, CA, Nick Fiorito of Durango, CO, Adam Towers of Traverse City, MI, Ryan Towers of Detroit, MI and Dalton Towers of Austin, TX; four granddaughters, Elise Towers of Boston, MA, and Julia Towers of Syracuse, McKenna Towers (David Mayoral) of Sudbury, MA, and Linda Fiorito of Knoxville, TN; a great-grandchild, Curren Kirchberg of San Diego; one sister, Kathleen Brightman of Greenfield Center; one sister-in-law, Beverly Towers of Corinth; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Graveside Service and Celebration of both Ann and Loyal’s lives will be held in the spring at Maplewood Cemetery, South Corinth, at a later date to be announced. Ovitt Sr., 79, of Main St., passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021 at Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. Born on April 5, 1941 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Edmund and Lillian (Tucker) Ovitt. Jerry attended school in Corinth and joined the United States Military, first serving in the US Navy and then in the US Airforce, serving as a medic until his honorable discharge. He was employed for several years as a truck driver, and owned and operated Chuckle Valley Cement Brick Company, a body shop and also his own oil delivery business, and a trailer park. Jerry was a manager of a pit crew for Shirley Cha Cha Muldowney, the first Women’s speedster. He also enjoyed refurbishing vintage automobiles. He always collected pennies and donated them to the Shriners Club every year. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Edmund Jr. Sonny Ovitt; and by one step-son, Hoby. Survivors include six children, Sabrina Ovitt of West Virginia, Daniel Keller (Lorna) of West Virginia, Randy Keller of Indiana, Maureen DeGregory (Sean Johnson) of Nevada, Lynn of New York, and Jerry Ovitt Jr. of New York; several grandchildren , great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Geneva Cronkite, Helen Bradley (Jim), Arthur Ovitt (Wendy), Susan Shostak, Linda Lawrence, Mary Holtzrichter (Jim), George Ovitt (Victoria), William Ovitt, and Walter Ovitt; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. CORINTH Joseph B. Woodcock Sr., 80, of Oak St., passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. Born on Jan. 7, 1941 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Louis and Helen (Balcom) Woodcock. Joe attended Corinth High School. He joined the United States Navy on April 13, 1960, serving on the USS Lake Champlain in the Third Naval District until his honorable discharge on Feb. 4, 1965. Joe married Susan C. St. John on July 11, 1964 ...in Lake Luzerne and the couple resided in Corinth for many years. He was employed for the Village of Corinth Department of Public Works for many years until his retirement. Joe was a member of the VFW Post 5836 of Hadley and was a longtime former member of the Corinth Vol. Fire Department and Past Chief. He also was a member of the William J. Varney American Legion Post 862 of Lake Luzerne. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a longtime member of the Shippee Mountain Hunting Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world. He also enjoyed listening to music, James Bond movies, traveling, and going to the VFW (he was a lifetime member). Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Scott Woodcock. Survivors besides his loving wife of 56 years of Corinth include five children, Joseph Woodcock Jr. (Liz) of Hadley, Lou Woodcock (Robin) of Corinth, Mike Woodcock (Terri) Of Lake Luzerne, Jim Woodcock (Becki) of Corinth, and Diana Lescault (Ron) of Corinth; 15 grandchildren, Jessica, Stephanie, Taylor, Eric, Jason, Zach, Michelle, Chenique, Nathan, Allyson, Brielle, Sarah, Jessica, Nicole, and Christopher; many great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Pasquarell (Lou) of Troy, Gaye Lescault (Eloi) of Corinth and Faith Woodcock of Corinth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. CORINTH Lucy N. Stark, 95, a longtime resident of Corinth, passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021 at her daughter Pearl’s home in Porter Corners, with her loving family by her side. Born on Sept. 27, 1925 in Whitehall, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Marsalene (Bushea) Van Guilder. Lucy attended Granville High School. She married James A. Grant Sherman on Sept. 29, 1940 in Raceville and the couple briefly resided in Harford before moving to Corinth where ...they lived for many years. He passed away Oct. 21, 1985 following 45 years of marriage. She then married Leon Stark on Oct. 26, 1990 in Greenfield. He passed away on July 19, 1993. Lucy was a longtime, active member of the Victory Bible Baptist Church of South Corinth. She enjoyed puzzles, camping, reading and traveling. She also loved spending time with her family. Besides her husbands and her parents, she was also predeceased by one daughter, Elaine Allen and three sons-in-law, Donald Chandler, L. James Baker and Merrill Ladd; and her siblings, Edward, Arthur Thomas, Catherine, James, and Harry Van Guilder and Elizabeth Pixley Cooper. Survivors include three daughters, Pearl Chandler of Porter Corners, Barbara Baker of Porter Corners and Evelyn Ladd of Strasburg, VA; nine grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren and 45 great-great grandchildren; three siblings, Charles Van Guilder (Debbie) of Queensbury, Alfred Van Guilder (Rita) of South Glens Falls, and Mildred Munchback of Hagadron Mills; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and Oscar Ovitt who she raised like a son. Born on Sept. 4, 1949 in Albany, she was the daughter of Mildred (Pitcher) Hart of Albany and the late Raymond Hart. Cathy graduated from Guilderland High School in 1968. She lived for many years in Ballston Spa were she raised her family and for the past 20 years she has resided in Corinth. Cathy loved her cats, crocheting, bak...ing and watching scary movies. Besides her father, she was also predeceased by one sister, Debra Miller. Survivors include four children, William Sticht of Corinth, Michelle Weaver (William) of Corinth, Garry Sticht (Diane) of Schenectady, and Jeffrey Sticht of Queensbury; two grandchildren, Cassandra Felice of Greenfield and Shawnna Thew (Joseph) of Corinth; one great-grandson, Reece Eddy of Greenfield; one brother, Raymond Hart (Fran) of Nevada; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. CORINTH Donald M. Bolduc, 61, of Surrey Road, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on Dec. 9, 1959 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Georgette and Ed Sadler of Saratoga Springs. Don graduated from Corinth High School in 1978 and graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was first employed at the International Paper Co. in Corinth in the color prep department for 20 years and then worked at Slack Ch...emical in Saratoga Springs for 11 years. Don was currently the owner and operator of North Country Pest Control for the past 20 years. He took delight in his business, his customers and also Andrew Shattuck and Tom Madison, who worked alongside him. When business slowed down in the winter, he looked forward to weekly lunch with his Mom. He adored his two grandchildren and cherished his time with them. Paisley girl will miss the rides in grandpa’s truck. Don truly loved his annual trips to Aruba with his children, grandchildren and girlfriend. He was predeceased by his very good friend, Corky Shattuck. Survivors besides his parents, include one daughter, Brianna M. Knowlton (Cody) of Hartford; two grandchildren, Tilden and Jace; his longtime companion, Jean Quirion of Corinth and her children Dustin and Darren Quirion; two siblings, Norman Bolduc of Hudson Falls and Jimmie Bolduc (Paula) of Wilton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. CORINTH Terrylee LaFountain,61, of Spier Falls Road, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at Saratoga Hospital following a long illness. Born on July 14, 1959 in Saratoga Springs, she was the daughter of Alfred and Ethel (Ovitt) Brower. Terry attended Ballston Spa High School and attended Schenectady Community College. She married William J. LaFountain on Sept. 21, 1997 in Corinth and the couple has resided on Spier Falls Road for many years. Terry was the store ma...nager at the Clifton Park Stewarts for four years and then worked with her husband, Bill in their business, TMSM Drywall, for several years. She enjoyed crafting, shopping, playing games on her I-Pad, and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and every year she enjoyed doing projects and making cookies with her family. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Donna Hatalski, Charles Brower and Sherry Marcotte. Survivors besides her husband of 23 years, William LaFountain of Corinth include four children, Tonya Winslow (Jesse) of Corinth, Mellisa Wood (James Lutz) of Argyle, Stephanie Wood (Robert Abare) of Corinth, and Michael Charbonneau (Jessilyn) of Porter Corners; 10 grandchildren, Jordon, Stephen Jr., Shannon, Anthony, Bailey, Hailey, Brian, Terrylee, Brant, and Kayden; one great-grandson, Matthew Jr. and a great-granddaughter on the way, Isabella; four siblings, Susan Brower of Corinth, Daniel Brower of Corinth, Cheryl Hayes of Stony Creek, and Tammy Brower of Hadley; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. EASTON Geneva M. Baldwin, 61, of the Easton IRA on General Fellows Road, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at her home, after a short illness. Born on Jan. 29, 1959 in Troy, she was the daughter of Lorraine Baldwin of California and the late Howard Baldwin. Geneva resided in family care for several years, lived at the Worth Road IRA and most recently the Easton IRA. She also attended the Adirondack Dayhab and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She liked the s...taff and had many friends there. She loved music therapy, dancing, swimming, being outside in the summer air, doing arts and crafts, decorating for the Holidays, especially Halloween, as she loved to get dressed up in costumes. Geneva liked her clothing to be matching and stylish, as well as her nails nicely polished. She loved to go shopping and get new things to wear. Geneva was a very friendly and happy woman. She always had a smile on her face and could light up a room. She was very kind, compassionate and always willing to help. She enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. She loved hugs and was always happy to see you. Survivors besides her mother include her many housemates and staff over the years. May Geneva’s light continue to shine bright. QUEENSBURY John Ira Hoffman, 75, of 3 Arberger Drive, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 at his home. Born on Nov. 23, 1945 in Rensselaer County, NY, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hoffman. Ira happily resided for many years with his housemates at the Arberger Drive Home in Queensbury and loved being with the staff. He enjoyed going to the program at the Queensbury Dayhab, loved watching TV, especially The Voice and listening to country m...usic. He also loved pizza, rocking in his rocking chair and loved putting on his Jammies every day. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his sister, Elsie Van Kampen. Survivors besides his nephew and niece, Jay Van Kampen and Kristen Dayter, include his housemates and staff over the years. CLIFTON PARK David Bandler, 60, of the Jonesville IRA in Clifton Park, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on Oct. 9, 1960 in Hempstead, he was the son of the late Edward and Norma Jean Bandler. David resided at the Jonesville IRA for many years and enjoyed interacting with the staff and his friends at the home. He loved cowboys and enjoyed dressing in western attire. He also loved math, enjoyed doing word searches, being out in the communi...ty, and enjoyed looking good and getting his hair cut. David also attended the Burnt Hills Dayhab. Survivors include his fellow housemates and staff over the years, who loved him like family. Rose was employed at Fourwinds Health Care Facility in Saratoga Springs for several years and also worked in Home Health Care. She loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings, going to camp, c...rocheting and her dog, Squid. Survivors include four children, Gary P. VanNostrand (Tammy) of Gloversville, Danny A. VanNostrand (Brandy) of Amsterdam, Betsy J. LAKE LUZERNE Kenneth W. Matraw, 56, of Lake Avenue, passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020 at Ft Hudson Nursing Center in Ft. Edward, following a brief illness. Born on May 7, 1964 in Ticonderoga he was the son of Robert Matraw of Corinth and the late Patricia (Gonyo) Matraw. Ken graduated from Ticonderoga High School in 1982. Shortly after graduation, he moved to Florida, were he resided for many years. He then worked at several commercial construction jobs and recent...ly moved back to the area. Ken enjoyed deep sea fishing. Survivors besides his father include three children, Anna Massie of Kentucky, Arich Matraw of Colorado, and Amber Matraw of Colorado; four siblings, Gerald Matraw (Margaret Gates) of Glens Falls, Lisa Butler of Corinth, David Matraw (Robin) of Lake Luzerne, and Bob Matraw III (Maureen O’Toole) of Schuylerville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. CORINTH Joyce A. Day, 88, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020 at her home after an extended illness. Born on June 3, 1932 in Corinth, she was the daughter of John and Alice (Ormsby) Washburn. Joyce graduated from Corinth High School in 1949. She married the love of her life, Walter C. Day on 9/21/1952. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Corinth, residing for over 60 years in the house that she and her beloved husband built. Joyce was employed as a secretary for ma...ny years at Eggleston Transportation and then Finch Pruyn, as well as an office manager at Sinclair International. For many years she was active in the Rondac Campers, a charter member of the Adirondack Bluegrass League, Jessups Landing Red Hats, Moreau Community Center and as a secretary to the American Legion Post #533 Women’s Auxiliary. Joyce enjoyed camping when her daughters were younger. There was always a vacation to Old Orchard Beach and also to the Adirondacks every summer. When the grandchildren came along, they took them as well. Ted and Chantal got to enjoy time with both Mamps (Walter) and Mimi. She loved sitting by a campfire while playing her guitar with her husband playing the washtub bass and singing. Joyce and Walt often camped with friends who would also bring their instruments and play along. She loved arguing politics with anyone that would listen, especially her sister Marlene. Besides her husband, Walter C. Day, and her parents, she was also predeceased by great-grandson, Randon Clark; her granddaughter Chantal’s fiancé, William Godwin, whom she had a great fondness for; her sisters, Shirley Lyng and Geneva Straight; and her brothers, John, Emerson (Ted) and Alfred; as well as Warren Center, who she met after the death of her husband, and together they traveled and danced winning many dance contests. Survivors include her two daughters, Roxanne Day and Rhonda Badger (Jimmie); grandchildren, Ted Day (Candice Dochterman), Chantal Fortune, Catlin DiLorenzo (Angel Fortino), Kayla Rhodes (Matt Hook); great grand-children, Alexandria Clark, Alexis Dochterman, Timothy DiLorenzo; her sister, Marlene Loeffler (Hubert); good friends, Barbara Loeffler and Carolyn Patterson; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Icey, who kept his own little vigil on her bed. DAY - Robert N Williams, 86, a former longtime resident of North Shore Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020 at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness. Born on Oct. 31, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Norman and Francis (Dusenberry) Williams. Bob graduated from Garden City High School in 1954. He joined the United States Army on Dec. 9, 1954, and was stationed in LaRochelle, France, serving during the Korean War until his honorable discharg...e in 1956. He then attended Curry College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. Bob married Carole (Konther) Granai on Sept. 6, 2007 in Juneau, Alaska, and the couple resided for many years in the Town of Day, and had just recently moved to Queensbury. Following college, he was first employed at the Connecticut Valley Manufacturing Company as a corporate secretary and then worked at the Total Restoration Co. on Long Island as a Sales Contractor for several years until his retirement. Bob was a member of a Rotary Club in Connecticut, the Garden City Ski Club, and the William J. Varney American Legion Post 862 of Lake Luzerne. In 2019 he had the great honor of being the Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day parade in Lake Luzerne. He also was on the Leatherstocking Honor Flight to the World War II Memorial in 2014. He enjoyed skiing, tennis, bowling and traveling with his wife Carole, and especially enjoyed the various cruises they went on together. Born on Nov. 7, 1949 in Rangeley, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Rexford and Jessima (Ellis) Murphy. Marla was employed for the Capital District DDSO for 38 years as a therapy Aide until her retirement in 2010. CORINTH Juanita A. Nolan, 90, formerly of Corinth passed away Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at her son’s home in Raymond, NH, where he and his wife took loving care of her through a long illness. Born on Sept. 21, 1930 in Gouverneur, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Pauline (Canfield) Guanciale. Juanita grew up in Star Lake, NY where she met and married Donald Nolan on June 24, 1950. The couple then moved to Corinth, where they raised their family. Juanita loved spending hours poring over recipe books with her daughters and granddaughters. Whatever she put her hand to, it was done meticulously. Born on March 13, 1952 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Bernard and Rachel (Carpenter) Lillibridge. Gary graduated from Corinth High School in 1970 and received his Bachelor's Degree in Restaurant Management from RIT. He joined the United States Navy in 1971, serving during the Vietnam War on submarines until his discharge in 1974. Russell Boggs on July 11, 1959. After Russ's retirement, they then moved to their summer home and current home on the Hudson River. Veda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and lived for her family. She loved everyone she met and gave her time and energy to anyone. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Corinth for many years, and taught Sunday school at the Sussex United Methodist Church for several years. Veda enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved family gatherings and also enjoyed traveling with her husband to visit her kids and grandkids. CORINTH Richard S. Dick Shafer, 86, a longtime resident of Corinth, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 in Tavares, Florida, following a long illness. Born on Jan. 4, 1934 in Schenectady, he was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Grace Marion (Bowers) Shafer. Dick attended school in Schenectady. He joined the United States Marines on July 14, 1952, serving as an E4/automobile mechanic for three years until his honorable discharge on July 13, 1955. He received... several honors and medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. Dick married Florence C. Flo Boucher on Nov. 21, 1987 in Lake Luzerne and the couple resided in Corinth for several years, before moving to Lake Panasoffkee, Florida for their retirement. She passed away May 27, 2020. He was employed with the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 83 for over 50 years until his retirement, and in 2008 received an award for his 50 year service. Dick was a member of the VFW Post 4337 of Inverness, FL and the VFW Post 10084 of Lake Panasoffkee, FL. He loved playing his guitar, jamming, and doing Gigs with his family and friends. He loved country music and also enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Besides his wife and parents, he was also predeceased by one sister, Melody McWilliams. CORINTH Ronald J Mason, 74, of Mosher Road, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020 at his home with his loving daughter by his side. Born on January 7, 1946 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Charles and Inez (Combs) Mason. After graduating high school, Ron joined the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Orion until his honorable discharge on June 11, 1965. In 1968 Ron traveled to California where he was employed as a Steelworker until... 1969 in which he returned home upon his father’s passing. He then started his life long career as a Corrections Officer for New York State. He worked at Great Meadows, Comstock and Mt McGregor Correctional Facilities. Upon retirement Ron traveled to Florida for many years. He became an avid golfer who achieved a 128 yard Hole in One on March 12, 2013 at The Villages Executive Golf Trail. He also loved the outdoors, and spending time with Erin teaching her to hunt deer and an occasional frog leg or two. He loved spending time with family and friends whether it be at his home bar, hunting camp, or The Glad Rags, he was always ready for a good time. As a close friend once said, "Ron was a hard drinking, wild man in his day". Ron was a member of the American Legion Adirondack Post 70 of Saratoga Springs and would on occasion bartend. He was also a member of the Order of the Elks, Glens Falls Lodge NO. 81 for several years and was an active member of the NRA. Born on July 16, 1924 in Corinth, she was the daughter of the late John and Celia (Barrass) Williams. Charlotte attended Corinth High School. She married Paul Hrdlicka on May 23, 1943 and the couple resided in Corinth for many years. He passed away April 4, 2017 following 73 years of marriage. ... Charlotte enjoyed homemaking, gardening, feeding her chipmunks and loved her jelly donuts. Besides her husband and her parents, she was also predeceased by one daughter, Patricia Shippee and one brother, Wilbur Williams; and two sisters-in-law, Minnie Williams and Diane Williams. Survivors include one brother, Curtis Williams of Corinth; one sister, Sharon Gonyea of Queensbury; one grandson, Kevin Shippee (Shirley) of Corinth; her nieces and nephews, Joanne, Dale, Wayne, Brian, Chris, Claire, Carol, Cathy and Kelly, Dawn, Craig, Sherry and Bob; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth. Friends may call from Noon to 1 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service with Rev. Dean Brown, officiating. Burial will be held at Corinth Rural Cemetery. All visitors who enter the funeral home for calling hours or services are required to wear a mask. LAKE LUZERNE - Carol Rae (Washburn) Barcomb, 71, of Call St., passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on Jan. 2, 1949 in Corinth, she was the New Year’s baby at Corinth Hospital, and was the daughter of the late Horace Hod and Clarenda Claire (Allison) Washburn. Carol graduated from Hadley-Luzerne Central School in 1967. She went on to work in various business offices, including NDP of Glens Falls and for... many years as the office manager for Dr. Mohan Sadana until her retirement in 2018. She particularly enjoyed being a consultant for Home Interiors and Gifts. Carol’s interests included bowling, shooting pool, horse racing, the Lake George Elvis Festival, and traveling with her dear Kindergarten to Medicare friends, Anne, Barbara, Sharon, Linda, Beth, Paulette, Barb, Patty, Taffy, Jackie and Brenda. She was also the family’s quintessential party planner through which she made everyone feel special. Carol leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Berg; four granddaughters, Courtney, Chantelle, Shaina and Cheyenne; three great-grandchildren, Paige, Savanna and Joseph; she is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Sherwood (Mark) of Lake Luzerne; her nieces, Corin Kelley (Dan) and Allison Millis (Gary); proud great-aunt to Gregory, Reagan, Kyle, Vivian and Kerrigan; and she was close to all of her cousins. A Graveside Service for Carol and also for her mother, Claire, will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2020 at Corinth Rural Cemetery, Rt. 9N, Corinth, with the Rev. Dean Brown, officiating.
