DEP remembers when Ruth Bader Ginsburg was West Point’s Zengerle Family Lecturer. She was a role model for future leaders as she fought bravely to right inequities and to guide our nation toward realizing the promise of the Constitution. As we mourn her loss, we celebrate her life and accomplishments. https://youtu.be/6qw9fHqVUdY

#MeetOurScholars CDT Emersen Bribiesca (she/her) is a member of Company H1, with a double major in American History and English, and a minor in Diversity and ...Inclusion Studies. As the Cadet in Charge of Spectrum, West Point’s LGBTQ diversity organization for cadets and faculty, Emersen plans and coordinates bi-weekly meetings, on-post events, and off-post trips for the club. She is also the co-founder of West Point’s Queer History Archive, a project which seeks to capture the experiences of West Point cadets, staff, and faculty members who identify as LGBTQ through their oral and written histories. In the Department of Chemistry and Life Science, Emersen conducts retrospective epidemiology research using West Point’s resources from the late nineteenth century to identify signs, symptoms, and consequences of traumatic brain injury in West Point athletes. Emersen intends to study queer theory and apply this to her efforts in recovering the history of queer peoples. Serving openly as a queer-identifying officer, Emersen hopes to branch Infantry upon graduation, and continue to pursue social change. LTC Andrew Marsh's EN102 class recently had a chance to talk to international best-selling author and screenwriter Ernest Cline about his novel "Ready Player One." While discussing the novel, cadets and Mr. Cline had an opportunity to explore the intersection of identity and leadership as it pertains to technology and the constantly shifting world we find ourselves in. Mr. Cline also provided a tour of his DeLorean and large collection of classic memorabilia and discussed the evolution of a story that began as a dream and eventually formed into an international bestselling book and an Academy nominated film.
