I want very badly to squat at least 300 and I weigh 165 lbs. I've been training and eating my ass off to reach those goals. Well, my weight has gone down 3 weeks in a row and my squat suddenly feels like crap (with an upcoming PR attempt in a few days). It sure seems like the training gods are against me. Feels like I should give up. But I know better because I've been here before. Here's how I get out - First, I pout and complain and feel bad for myself. Then, when that's o...utta my system, I ask myself two very important questions: 1. Is this still important to me? Yes! 2. Am I a person who gives up on things that are important to me? Fuck no! As soon as I decide 100% I'm not going to give up, I feel better. I realize that its the approach that needs to change, not the goal. The training ruts will come, and when they do, I encourage you to ask yourself the same questions.

All you'll need is a wall and a tape measure! If you pass the test, you have the ankle mobility for full depth squats. If not, ankle mobility is at least a contributing factor in your butt wink. Mike and I have a big goal: join the 1,000lb club. The price of admission: Dead, squat, and bench maxes must total 1,000 lbs. Progress has been slow, especially with squats. Goals like this take a frustrating amount of time, effort, and patience, but that only makes it that much sweeter when you finally achieve them!! Over the past 6 weeks (18 workouts / 36 hours training) we've added 20 lbs to our squat and I couldn't be more pumped! Current squat PR: 275 x 1

Which brings me to farmer carries: Pick up some heavy shit and move! Do it till it hurts, then keep going, drop it, rest, and go again. You'll work every muscle group in your body, build crazy grip strength, and don't you dare tell me it's not cardio. Be a beast of the basics!
