Today we remember John Le Carre, the beloved author who brought us his intricate Cold War spy thrillers. John Le Carre's novels, which were written with his own knowledge of being both a diplomat and a spy, was able to capture the unglamorous aspect of spy life oppositely depicted in Ian Fleming's work. Instead his characters focused on humanization through betrayal and deception encompassed into twisted plots. Many of his titles made the big screen--Tinker, Tailor, Soldier ...Spy, The Constant Gardener, and The Little Drummer Girl to name a few. Le Carre passed on December 12, 2020 at the age of 89.
