*** QUOTE OF THE DAY *** At the end of the day, you can either focus on what's tearing you apart / pushing you back, or on what's holding you together / moving you forward. This quote relates back to my "Law of Attraction" post. It's all about keeping that positive mindset, and doing your best do stay consistent with it. ... I know it could be easier said than done, and you may be feeling down because you've been through a lot of hardships up to this point in your life, but look at it this way: You should be proud of yourself for being strong enough to make it through those hardships. Just something to think about... Any comments and/or questions? Please post below. Be healthy!

*** THE LAW OF ATTRACTION *** Every day we are constantly making decisions. Our decisions/habits are driven by our powerful subconscious minds. ... A lot of the time, if you let it happen, our negative subconscious will over rule our positive subconscious. It is important to train your mind to counter those negative thoughts with positive ones. Overtime, this will program your mind to get the most out of whatever it may be. The more you do this, the better off you will be. If you are constantly giving in to the negative voices you hear in your head, nothing good will come out of it, and who knows? You could be shorting yourself out of an opportunity. At the end of the day, those negative thoughts just become excuses, and if you keep giving in to those negative thoughts, you will dig yourself deeper into a negative mindset. This could get in your way of your desired accomplishments, and you will ultimately have a negative perspective on life. A positive mind will keep you moving forward, will help you replace those bad habits with good habits, and will also keep you healthier. ______________________________________________________ You should try to focus on the way you react to certain things. I often experience people reacting negatively to things they cannot control. I always ask myself, why? Why stress yourself over something you cannot control? If you catch yourself reacting in a negative way to something you can't control, try to become aware of the way you are reacting, and train your mind to just let it go. The more you train your mind to stay positive; the better off you'll be in life. If you react negative, you'll attract negative. ______________________________________________________ Do your best to surround yourself with positive people. Here’s a quote that has stuck with me: "You are the sum of your 5 closest friends." Choose who your closest friends are wisely! Negative energy is a positive energy drainer, and if you’re a negative person overall, you will not attract positive, ambitious people. ______________________________________________________ Bottome line: You should pay attention to things/habits that drain your energy, and do your best to stay away from those things/habits. It could be something so simple, such as having a messy room. The more time you put into training your mind to be positve, the better off you'll be with your life ambitions, your overall health, and your overall wellbeing. Any questions / comments? Please post below. Be healthy! It starts with the mind.

Last week Filomena Gizzo and I had an opportunity to talk about the importance of nutrition, exercise and mindset in front of a number of kids ranging between 10-15 years old, and also their parents. This was an awesome experience, and I'm glad that Filomena Gizzo and I we're able to inspire all that attended. I want to thank Susan McKee for giving us this opportunity!

*** GUT HEALTH AND IMMUNITY *** (Important message from The Khader Center, Dina Khader) Happy October!... I can really feel autumn in the air now; things start to feel a little more peaceful this time of year, and it’s nice to relax and reflect as the seasons begin to change. I hope you’re finding time to relax amidst the changing colors and weather as well. Of course, this always seems to be a season of activity for The Khader Center as well, and this weekend has been no exception; I just got back from Washington, D.C., where I attended the A4M Conferenced titled, "Redefining Medicine Insights in Immunity: A New Era in the Evaluation and Treatment of Immune Dysfunction." Gut Health and Immunity: One of my favorite lectures at the conference was on immunosenescence, the process of deteriorating immunity that occurs as a natural result of aging. As our immune system deteriorates, it can cause serious inflammation that can lead to joint pain, gut issues, and, if left unaltered, cancer. Cancer is now known to be the result of serious inflammation caused by an unhealthy immune system. Because the thymus gland, the organ that produces the T cells that drive immune function, begins to deteriorate when we are only twenty years old, our lifestyle choices in our twenties, thirties, and forties, will have a heavy impact on our health later in life. 70% of immunity starts in the gut, so the best way to counteract immunosenescence is to encourage better digestive health. > Use probiotics daily. Probiotics encourage healthy bacteria in the gut, which keep our digestive process running smoothly. For maximum effect, rotate different strains of probiotics every three months. > Enjoy fermented foods like kimchee and sauerkraut, as well as at least five servings of greens every day. > Avoid dairy, gluten, alcohol, excessive coffee, and excessive black tea, which can all damage the gut lining. > Since emotional and psychological health directly influences the digestive tract, strive to maintain good emotional balance through mindfulness, meditation, and focused breathing. The good news is that our guts start to recover only three days after we begin taking steps to improve our digestive health. So no matter your age, start building the habits that lead to healthier digestion and improved immunity! Don't forget to take advantage of my monthly sale, going on now at my online store. Most products purchased online are 10% off through midnight Wednesday, October 5th. Be healthy!

*** 10 TIPS FOR FIGHTING ANXIETY *** Anxiety is becoming so prevalent, researchers are calling it the signature disease of this generation. 30% of American adults will experience a serious anxiety disorder at some point in their life. More than just a sense of unease, anxiety is a chemical reaction in the brain that triggers our fight-or-flight response, with results that can be exceedingly disruptive and even debilitating. Fortunately, nutrition is one of your most powerful...Continue reading
