Interview: Kaveh Haghtalab of Koubeh Revoicing Iranian Folk Music in Brooklyn: https://doobeedoobeedoo.info//interview-koubeh-revoicing-/ Since early 2000 a talented diaspora of a number of Iranian-born musicians have been producing sumptuous sound landscapes here in New York that both incorporate tradition and go beyond it incorporating jazz, blues, alternative rock, chanson, flamenco, heavy metal and electronica. Well known bands, such as HYPERNOVA and KIOSK moved to Ne...w York which was the right artistic location and space to make music without the pressure to get a permission from the Department of Culture in Tehran which required pre-approval of all public performances and CD releases. Koubeh is one of the newer bands coming out in 2019 is Koubeh based in Brooklyn, New York. Kaveh is also a member of SoSaLa.
"Spaghetti Eastern Music, the ongoing project led by guitarist/ composer / improviser / producer / polymath / MFM member Sal Cataldi has done it again. This single, titled "Blues for a Lost Cosmonaut" is an exploration of emotions evoked by a look back into the infancy of manned space flight." - Dawoud Kringle https://doobeedoobeedoo.info//music-video-review-spaghett/
Anne Feeney, folk musician, mainstay in the folk music movement and political and labor activist, has died. Text by Dawoud Kringle The great folk musician Anne Feeney was a fearless and formidable force for justice and workers’ rights onstage, in the studio, and on the picket line. Through her art and through her example our I.W.W. comrade will continue to be a beacon of hope and solidarity for future generations. - Tom Morello, guitarist of Rage Against the Machine https://doobeedoobeedoo.info//r-i-p-anne-feeney-a-real-mu/
Report: MFM ZOOM Webinar #2 with Baba Donn Eaton Babatunde:
As you all know: MFM is for #UnityInTheMusicCommunity. This said, Music Workers Alliance (MWA) is one of our sister Musicians Rights organization we support. Here is an interview by MWA brain and professional musician Mark Ribot who describes very well the present shitty economical situation for working musicians and ending the interview with reminding musicians to organize. In fact, the only option they got to survive as an social-political-cultural business league. I personally agree and endorse what he's saying in this interview. Let me end with Maria Schneider's shout: "Musicians wake up!!!" https://www.dublab.com//the-quarantine-tapes-135-mark-ribo
