The last thing my grandfather gave to me before he passed away was a simple side chair that he kept in his home. I was especially drawn to the fabric, and though I loved the chair as is, I really wanted to find a special way to preserve the memory of this person and the gift he chose to share. For me personally, it’s important (almost crucial) to hold tight to the people that mean something to us, no matter how long they’ve been in or out of our lives. I miss my grandfather i...mmensely, but thanks to my friends at The Preservation Framer (The Preservation Framer) in Massachusetts, I can celebrate my relative in a beautiful way: in plain view, right where his memory belongs. What draws you to what you do? For me, everything that enters the shop has a story. There’s a personal history, and my brief tactile encounter with these objects only reveals a deeper truth: these pieces are of emotional value because they represent memories between families and cherished loved ones. Restoring furniture means holding on to something that’s of importance for someone. How lovely is that? To maintain a memory of something special is such a wonderful assignment.
